just realised i never actually answered the question, so my favourite things would have to be melodies, interesting drums (bongos, high hats etc), and nice sexy bass that's like getting a big warm hug from your speaker; none of this bass that sounds like you're being gouged in the ear with an electric toothbrush. and you can't go wrong with a good vocal (preferably female ones)
