I think it is becuase Dubstep producers dont really have much of an idea about Techno.
I only started to hear Martyn/2562 very recently and I spotted a few classic Techno tune samples so they must have been into that.
There are like 8 posts on this thread and no1 has pointed out that the tracks in the mix are not Dubstep? I know Dubstep is quite open but that is Techno.
At least 2 people pointed it out

Not true really. Minimal Techno has been around a long time in the world but is still quite new in the UK and part of a 'trendy' scene. But if you look at how it goes off say in Detroit and Germany in clubs and has been for a long time now, it is not just for wine bars.

I'm not talking big names and huge nights, I'm saying if you want to get put on as a local DJ when you're just starting out, you don't have the power to play really diverse stuff.

DBX is prob one of the kings of min Techno and I would put money on it Martyn and 265232423 have a few of his records. DBX was doing that sound over 10 years ago and its not Dubstep.

It wouldn't sound out of place at a bar or a pub tbh. Its music that is quite easy to ignore and not offensive. But it still can go off in a club.

dunno man, i play in cocktail bars at least once a month (bit of a closet deep house fan) and although at first i was bringing stuff like D1, Ramadanman, Martyn etc in the hope i might be able to drop it in, i've basically given up on that. it's soooo much deeper than what people want for that kind of environment. maybe in some parts of london (these were all in Europe) but generally i think it's a step too far for most...

Fare enough. I cannot speak for you're local wine bar;) my local pub has Skream, Pinch, Hatcha, Oneman +more on Sunday so things are different.
Local bars place deep near me tho.

YOU obviously have never been to a smog or a pure filth party and heard dubstep on a major system.. Or else you would not come to Dubstep forum and talk trash about the most exciting genre to hit the electronic music scene ever..Go to a real dubstep party... Don't post stupid shit like this in the production forum on a DUBSTEP website...
