Soundcloud is epic and much more useful to get feedback than myspace but to make yourself aware to the everyday listener, theres nothing better than myspace and radio play tbh..There will never be a magical way to get heard - you have to work at it and network...
Even if it is easier to listen to tracks on here or a RSS feed, people won't sit through and listen to 100 tracks, just to be nice.. You gotta MAKE people wanna listen to your stuff.. hence the sad fact you barely get a look in the dubs section unless you put "BARE FREE 320s INNIT! (Rusko/Caspa)"

look at hypemachine (http://hypem.com) and the system they have for playing tunes. so quick and easy, you can listen to tunes at ten times the efficiency.
it'd revolutionise the dubs section, i dont know if dsf would have to pay someone loads to program this or what, but it'd be fucking sick. personally i do try to listen to as much as possible in dubs but frankly it gets so long having to go on share sites i just cant be fucked after a few tunes. if the site had a system like hypemachine everyone could sit there all day and everyone would get exposure, just cus its so easy!

that would work. personally i always try to comment on 3 or more tunes whenever i post something up in the dubs section but it seems most people want feedback but arent willing to spend a few minutes giving it. the problem would be stopping people from commenting without even listening to it.dequo wrote:how about a reply/thread ratio. so to make a new thread for ur sick new track, you have to have replied to 2 or 3 other peoples threads

soundcloud/sendspace type sites have huge bandwidth traffic, which in turn costs a lot of money to maintain by the month. right now the forum is totally supporting itself by the banners you see above, but adding the cost of a soundcloud type scenario would double if not triple the server costs. this would mean that this site would have to generate revenue somehow...most probably through advertising and flashing ad's etc. it would also mean that this site would then change its dynamic to hosting content, instead of community building. the latter has always been the focus. on top of all that, there's a legal issue of hosting music with uncleared samples. sendspace/soundcloud and all these other sites waive their liability about that sort of thing, but even then, that wouldn't stop a big company from filing a lawsuit for damages.Antics wrote:Is there anyway to create like a DSF soundcloud account or something so everyone can put just drop their tunes into the drop box... that would be rather more convenient...
the soundcloud idea is interesting though, but it does also have a very tricky legal side.
