Ha ha.

I live in Surrey, down the road from Guildford about halfway between there and Kingston.

You think Guildford is bad!!!

Don't bother with Leatherhead/Epsom/Woking/Cobham/Dorking or any of them then. Unless you want to raise a family or retire out to pasture. Oh and if you're not 'LOCAL' ("there'll be no trouble here, this is a local town for local people") and look a bit different, you'll stand out a mile.

Its nice and green here though.

The whole area is a bit of a culture bunker really. And is redolent of cheese.
I remember growing up and having to go to 'That London' for thrills.

Would be nice to see someone step up to the plate, I can bring dubs and spin tunes, just lemme know, don't mind doing it for a few beers and wouldn't want paying for what is essentially a few hours playing other peoples music as well as my own. Plus it all helps to build up a buzz and represent the music to the Mason and Kylie brigade.
You might want to think about a couple of fookin' big bouncers though to expell drunk twats!
Good luck.

I live in Surbiton which is five minutes from Kingston. Its dreadful. It was all just cheese, which is awful enough. Now the indie "scence" kids have turned up so its a poor mixture of cheese and indie kids. BAD

Im classified as London but really its Surrey. Fortunately, the bright lights of London aren't too far away. Going to Uni in Bristol was the best thing I ever did.

Back to the topic, a dupstep night in Guildford would be great. I would definitely go but not generally sure how many people would. Good luck with it!

Like I said before, we've held dubstep events before. I had loads of people coming up to me asking what it was. If you take the time to explain, people become intrigued and end up coming.

no chance of that bruv, stuck up fassy's, all of them
HAHAH terrible that the first thing that came to mind from this post was a Jay-from-the-inbetweeners-esque line involving me being stuck up their fassy's.

Well good to hear that there are people about, even if it is the 10 or so people who are replying to this thread. Hey, thats how DMZ started.

@ L5D, if you're putting something on can I set you a mix of mine?

Yep, there was. Loads of squat parties and the like. Actually there were some wicked raves in the Dorking area around Leith Hill and in the sticks.

Aah, golden days......

Not like that any more though mate, sad to say.

I played a gig once at Platform 9 ... did a whole mash up of different stuff from disco/funk through to jungle. Was a fun little gig. But yeah Guildford seems to be pretty dead musically. I seem to recall bumping into a few techno crusties around the late 90s but that's as far as it goes. Also there use to be a couple of good little techno/jungle record shops but they appear to have all gone.

Only just clocked this thread, the guys from Banquest records do nights in Kingston, I live about 20 mins away towards Epsom. It's green, very, very green.

I'd be willing to help out though if anyone puts a night on :)

I grew up round there. Good luck setting up. I remember people like Cause4Concern just about pulling off little nights in the upstairs of what used to be bojanglez years back

I lived in Guildford for a couple of years. Played a handful of gigs and they were cool. But there is nothing really going on in gtown, it's pretty dead.
