				quality read.
This is exactly what i want to hear. Ive always been into the dark spacious hard hitting half-step sound and there definatly isnt enough of it around. Its the reason i started producing cause i dont see enough of it so decided to make it.
Cant wait for the new releases. Burial and Loefah collab will be very interesting!

I'm really not into 'the rave' influence in Dubstep tbf. I's not about that for me.
As Loefah says not everyone is under 25 and into taking pills
Big up Blackdown on this one, really enjoyed the Silkie interview aswell

the stuff loefah and youngsta were coming up with in 2004-2005 is what i will always remember this genre for regardless of how it ends up.
that minimal form, a garage beat stripped down and given life and atmosphere with a bass lead melody. that and the dub culture from sound engineering, making use of sound systems (frequencies) and dubplates is what "dub-step" is to me.
today there is still some of that but the genre has grown so wide. it has its benefits and its disadvantages i suppose. now a days it feels more like an "(electronic) musical round up". a mix and mash of all the influences and emotions on tracks i wanna hear presented under one name.

its ridiculous how this needs to be asserted now. the whole demographic seems to have shifted so now when people talk about 'dubstep' they're really just talking about the jump-up, party stuff. nothing wrong with jump-up, but there is a danger of anything less obvious being considered as "leftfield" and therefore being marginalised. I mean I've heard people describe mala as leftfield, ffs!

The thing that comes through for me on this is Loefah's integrity
A great artist

wow... good job blackdown & thanks for taking the time to transcribe that. thats got to be one of the best interviews ive read period. lots of good discussing and lots of good points to be taken from it.
and the kryptic minds mix is sick as well... nice, weighty, spacey.

kudos martin, that's a fantastic interview. Loefah really opened up on some of the darker sides of an artistic life, the self-doubt, search for a new path; i can't help but think that the world of dubstep is stronger for his words being put into readable form. Artists, dj's, and punters alike all need to read that.
And ask them to dance! offer your hand! that is just a perfect analogy.
lovely bit of reading... i grabbed that kryptic minds/ headhunter 12" when it came out this past summer and it's been a fave ever since. looks like an extremely promising partnership over @ swamp 81.

				Amazing read.
Agree with most of the stuff they said.
But! whats this about people under 25 wanting to just get off their heads on pills? i'm 16, and I do however enjoy that, but I prefer to go to Exodus and skank. Seemed like he was tarnishing all the young uns with the same brush. sigh.
