Ye and the skull candy phones are overpriced junk IMO
^^^ this, this and this.

i disagree that spending money on decent headphones is a bad move - HD25s cost double what those Sony things do, but they last a lot more than twice as long, so you save money really.
I spent money I on my studio cans, we are talking dj cans here. Watch the HD25's get stolen twice as fast.
well, i'm up to 4 and a half years and still going strong so far (touch wood) :)

Are you serious? That is my 3rd pair of Sony's because the other two were stolen.

I hate those things. They are over priced and the cups swivel. What advantage do you have with a swiveling ear cup? Every time I have used them the thing swivels the wrong way. They are also known to break at the swivel.

The OG MDR-V6 is probably the best of the bunch.

Thats where mine broke :(

Also the leather on the ear part dried out and started flaking off.

Same on my 600's but they are actually more comfortable once all of the pleather has fallen off.

sennheiser's hd25's are the most uncomfortable i've ever worn..... dont like the way they sit on your ears prefer a pair that surround em, beyerdynamics are nice, got a pair of bose for listening, very interested in the AKG's though

I believe that weight is an important factor as well when picking out phones, esp. for production. Those bastards get quite heavy after wearing them for a few hours ya know? Are the pioneers light? I tried a pair once at a gig but don't remember too well.

They aren't as light or comfortable as my Grados, but they are way more comfortable than my old Sony's.

I have just started using them so this is just my preliminary opinion.

You should be taking enough breaks for that not to be a problem :)

they're designed for djs
thats why only one of the ears is rotatable
great pair of headphones

love my Ultrasone 750s for mixing but desparately need a decent headphone amp

i use beyerdynamics (for monitoring, i'm not a dj)

the sound quality is good, possibly excellent

they are a bit heavy and the top of my head starts to hurt after a while. lightness really is a factor for me.

by thinking
I keep posting these in headphones threads, they're the new top of the range Pioneer cans:

Made of mag alloy so they feel robust and not plasticky. Memory foam b2b some crazy protein leather on the earpieces to keep your ears comfy & sweat-free. I use them for watching movies, working (music reviewing) and DJing and couldn't recommend them enough.

a little pricey, but you ask what the 'Elite' of headhphones was, and these are them. Regardless, they are well worth the investment, and far less flimsy/plasticky than any other headphones. Superb sound, massive drivers that are almost impossble to overdrive. Removable mini-XLR cable, mono-switch for annoying mixers, nice carry bag.

These are the Pioneers I have been referring to in my posts as well.
