Why? Have you heard Modus Operandi? Seeing as Burial has even said he's a big Photek obsecive I think it would sound like that. And also everyone i've spoken to about Burial says the same thing with in the first few sentences of the conversation.elgato wrote:i dont agree at allmetalboxproducts wrote:If Photek were to do garage Burial is exactly how it would sound.
Well it adds to the appeal if your a fanboy. Maybe he's just shy.DeepThought wrote:i actually like the fact i dont know who burial is..

mystery solved!!!
it's actually pretty rudimentary imo, and he says that in some interview i read. he layers white noise/field recordings to hide that fact. Don't get me wrong the music is beautiful, and I really like it.colm wrote:no offence intended to kode 9 at all but the engineering on burial's tracks is soooooo much better.

Well in knowing who he is, quite a bit I imagine. You did the interview, so presumably you know.Blackdown wrote:i always wonder what difference people knowing his first and surname would actually make...
you're right, 'better' was the wrong word. it's totally distinctive anyway and i think whatever he's doing with his drum processing sounds great. maybe it is just white noise but it's certainly fooling my ears if it is.digi diana wrote:it's actually pretty rudimentary imo, and he says that in some interview i read. he layers white noise/field recordings to hide that fact. Not that it makes any difference really, good music's good music period. The rest of it's just Heat style titillation. All music should be about tunes over artists.
I'm more suspicious of the whole album being made in Soundforge - very impressive if he did, but can't see how it'd sound as good as it does.
And I don't think it sounds much like Photek either in all honesty.
his name is irrelevant and i can assure you his very first release was the hyperdub 12".Shonky wrote:Well in knowing who he is, quite a bit I imagine. yeh ive heard modus operandi. i think theyre almost polar opposites, burial's music (to me) is about warmth, emotion, soul, blurs... photek is precision, austerity, fear... burial feels personal while photek feels almost completely impersonalmetalboxproducts wrote:Why?
