Well I'd say its usually a square wave with a 'squeltchy' resonant lfo on it playing a pattern that accentuates the feeling of wobbling around. I think what you're doing is confusing lfo with wobble. Or do you think that synthesizers should start replacing lfo with the word 'wobble'?

matt's a cool guy but he's never made a record like this in his life. but whether he's into this or not is neither here nor there imo.

many people have a strong attachment to Sincere and quite a few of them will be more than a little dissapointed to see all the delicious tension and beautiful life squeezed out of it.

I just love this man! Big up Nero! Since when was 'sincere' become such a hallowed institution anyways?. No doubt it is amazing and blew everything else garage-wise out the water when it dropped, but that purist disdain for anyone revisiting original tunes is just wack.

exactly. its a memories thing. so many good memories. that whole sincere album is that 99' summer sound for many people. the height of UKG. another thing is that the wookie and jazzanova remixes are still untouchable because they flipped the original tune on its head. it was such a big tune that you've got to accept that people will have nostalgia attached to it.

i'm gona step in and defend nero here!

i don't see how this can be called generic at all. sure, we've heard that bass before, but since when were low frequencies a field of innovation? sine waves never change.
you rarely hear reverb and delay used so effectively (but still in such a simple way), and the mid-range synth carries the harmonies but still hits hard for the dancefloor.

also, there are already plenty of tunes with drum patterns like that, but in this context they bring together the bar9 shuffled dubstep hype and the shuffled vibes in garage, so its completely justified (in fact it would be a sin not to use it)

sorry that was all a bit boomkat-blurb-ey! out to nero, i think this is a fucking fantastic remix.

sounds to me like it's an official remix. also sounds like this remix would murder a dancefloor. the original gets everyone grooving, but this remix gets em jumping! so i would say, @nero: nice job and well done! and to those who obviously prefer the original: stick with that and try not wasting your time bitching and moaning about wobble on internet forums... for a change.

because Blackdown weighed in on the topic, and whilst I have a great respect for Blackdown and find I agree with most of his views,
I dont think you should have commented like that on this forum

Exactly. This remix is shit. MJ Cole can like whatever he wants. He can also make a good tune or a bad tune just like anyone. That doesn't mean I take his opinion, even on a remix of his own tune, to be fact. It's an opinion.

It's just a damn shame what they've done with this tune. Social sanctions are bound to occur when you fuck with a classic. Sack up and quit crying about it. Some people like it and some people don't.

i like it, its a different take on a classic, maybe the easy option for a generic wobble thing, but alot ALOT better than most wobblers around at the moment
