Use a kick that does not hit where bass or sub is. Get the right sample and you wont need to use any tricks to disguise you're error.

Leave kick/bass sidechaining to House/Techno.
Don’t worry about people stealing an idea. If it’s original, you will have to ram it down their throats.

Start with the right samples
Right on. Too bad I'm just realizing this now. :(

The best way to test this is once you think your tune is rolling, but maybe has some mud to it, mute parts of your drums one by one and re listen.

with dubstep this isn't really the case. both 4x4y garage-influenced type basslines and reggae/dub-influenced walking basslines are going to want to hit on the beat a lot, so side chaining is often gonna do you few favours. unless you really want the effect, again usually not too likely in dubstep, it is basically a cop out.

Agree. Bro knows what he's saying.

house/techno and other dance genres are kick oriantated.. so yeah mostly theyll sidechain there bassline with the kick. It also gives that pumpin sound. It gets a bit more drive/energy for some tracks.

dubstep is more bass oriantated music. They dont put the focus on grooves or drums. Its bout basslines so they just make more space for the b-line.

Sounds interesting. Have you got any examples of some of your tunes with this on?
