Lol Yeah it can get a little dull. Its so fuckin small!!! We have got a wicked record shop called Drop thats run by mate Slack. this was years ago now, moved somewhere even smaller.

loop the sample and play different notes til you find one that fits nice.
If you cant, try pitch shifting sample 50cents/quarter tone and doing it again.
a lot of songs/samples don't tend to be that harmonically rich and once you get a root note you can easily add intervals on top....
Melodyne etc can be a rather hit and miss affair unless its one line vocals.
i didn't check the other links but you prob found something much better already!
