He used to do alot of techno, i know he runs one of the biggest events in ibiza - he's been playing with kissy sell out, zane lowe etc.

Doubt he will go full time with dubstep, he just does the odd dubstep remix here and there - the bulk of it simply isnt good enough for people to worry about him 'ruining dubstep'.......

the tracks he makes serve a purpose, and when you got a crowd who normally listen to mainstream music and you drop the bonkers or the calvin harris remix, trust me, place will go off.

in my opinion doorly is doing the exact oposite of ruining dubstep, he's making dubstep more accesable to a bigger crowd, and that's a good thing.

Hasn't it occurred to you that every underground genre needs it's pop/crossover/sell-out (delete as applicable) artists? That maybe they serve as a gateway to the deeper/proper stuff? Cos fuck knows my love affair with hip hop might never have started without Coolio lol

I never said he was ruining dubstep, more provided my thoughts on what he's doing.

As said, one man (and his engineer) cant ruin a genre, it just ends up consuming itself.

people need to stop bitching about Caspa and Rusko, about "commercial" dubstep, about Chase and Status and Snoop Dogg, etcetera.

nobody is forcing you to play that stuff, but if someone hears it on youtube and decides to go to a dubstep-party because of it, YES, that's a good thing.

thats a different thing to making it more accessible tho. I agree if it gets people into the sound then that is a good thing but people shouldnt make tunes just because they are accessible to the mainstream. The sound shouldnt have to be changed so that it appeals to the masses, and i think some people get offended by that idea as its sort of a kick in the face to the sound that they love.

The problem is that these type of tunes begin to become the face of the genre and what people consider the be all and end all, and the majority of the new crowd will go to dubstep partys and expect a whole night of it. The 'better' or 'deeper' side of the sound then becomes second string (i.e in the second room at big nights). I think thats what peoples major problem is with this sort of thing.

im not saying this dude is ruining anything, and think that is just a stupid thing to say tbh. i dont care if people make these kind of tunes really, as long as some people get enjoyment out of it, thats the bottom line. Theres always gonna be sick dubstep about whatever.
