ahem, reaktor?

shame its a mission to build stuff with it.

Reaktor / FM8 are my weapons of choice and Reaktor can be as beastly as you want it, if you got the knowledge but in the same breath, you have to make it all yourself so it won't be as professional as the pay-ware synths so I guess it depends how good it is, on the owner holding it..

it's not got a massive selection of waveforms etc. and i've only scratched the surface with it, but the interface is stunningly easy to use and clean. so far it's given me so many good melodic sounds.

i guess what i mean by clean is that you only see what you're using, unlike synths like surge where everything is just smashed together on one window. it distracts me too much, although i do love surge too. i'm yet to make any good weighty bass sounds on twin2 though, it doesn't seem to have the same power. i seem to always turn to massive for that because of the combinations of waves and filters and the customisation. i guess it depends on the sound you want and how good you are yourself eh, i'm still learning

There are also VST version of this synth built in Native Electronic Instruments XT pack. Monster synth, a bit CPU eater...

Sylenth1 from Lennardigital is definitely worth checking out.

The VST version uses on the Reaktor 4 Engine which is why it does not work very well on most systems. Better off using it within R5

bump....this thread made me go and toy with crystal over the weekend...and I must say, first time I ever used presets (though that's probably a lil inaccurate)

taking a bit of time to learn....even alchemy went faster than this.

can't wait to understand it's full potential.

browsing through presets got the cpu up at over 150% at one point.

weve been caining the fyck out of this boy recently and i must say it is very versitile and easy to use. very nice saw.
albino v pred - use em both, predator crushes my cpu so i dont use it as much as i want. both kik out some primo sub bass
FM8 i find easier to use than sytrus, both are great sounding though.


why does everyone rave about zebra? ive never used it but a lot of people seem to really like it. what am i missing out on??

It has a nice modular structure, is powerful and easy to use... Worthy of praise no doubt

Zebra.. kicks... ass. period.
Thor is an incredible synth, tho not a vst.
Helix has enough featues to make your momma cry and sounds pretty damn good.

Anything less than 3 osc aint a heavyweight synth. Just throwing that out there.

I picked this one up a ways back. It only has two oscillators, but it might be worth a look.

i must recommend MU.LAB's native synth MUX. it's not a vst, but MU.LAB can be rewired to other hosts.

the synth is completely modular and stuff. you can draw your own waveforms, add samples, filters and such, but the best feature for me is that you can add unlimited external vst plugins to it and use them as standard building blocks of a modular synth. connect them with virtual cables and all that. monsters can be built inside el MUXo.

Don't really see what you mean about 'less professional' - I mean, is a modular moog less professional because you have to patch it together yourself?
