From memory, dubstep is an experimental type of music. Shouldn't that entail the artists to experiment with what ever they want?
Whether it's hard, deep, party... It's all dubstep. Stop being haters.
Actually we are both wrong, everything goes hand in hand, both sets of people hold up everything. But every music has a foundation and please just because some it's new and different does'nt mean it's pushing things forward.hellfire machina wrote:[
I call bulshit on that one bruv, the ones who held this music up and still do are the people that produce and spin it and the behind the scenes people that make shit happen, as for roots and culture you sound ridiculous because the roots and culture of this music were based on being open minded and pushing something forward.

i know there are lots of people who play chainsaw or whatever you guys call it, but a huge way to keep people interested in a set is to keep each track different. i just played a fashion show on friday, great soundsystem. started with burial's fostercare, then went into kryptic mind's dissolved, then gemmy's rainbow road, then nero's fresh bc remix of hypercaine.... you get the idea. people were having it so bad! it becomes so entirely boring when its just tear out after tear out, and thats for any genre. trust, people will get tired of it, just keep it fresh is all i say. if you are seeing a trend like dnb's path went, keep it up to play out more diverse music.
i want to list the MASSIVE amounts of unbelievable tunes that were released this year... but i wont because i think if you all sit and think about it you will look in your crate and see the gems and the incredible variety this genre has given us this year. if you think its becoming overwhelmingly tear out, and the brolitariat is taking over, then i dunno... stop supporting the nights.

Brought tunes, went to the nights when it was'nt the cool thing to do. And these people are a little upset and frustrated that the music they love is being stripped of it's roots and culture and being taken into a direction that's the opposite of what this music was all about in the first place.hellfire machina wrote:I have a few questions -
Does anyone else see the irony of the fact that the biggest moaners on this board about this subject are people that have very little involvment in the music other than standing on the sidelines. It seems that the biggest blasts of negativity comes from the hobbyists.
Is it that some people feel threatened by the new guard, it's only evolution of sound after all, change is good no? Or is that only relevant in politics now?
Change for the sake of change isn't always a good thing.
but it's regressing and becoming less expermimental...it's going down as seckle said the doomed paths that d&b already went downDemos wrote:-boring wrote:j.nitrous wrote:It's all dubstep. I hate the way everyone puts a label on a track if it's not the norm.

What does "meditate on bassweight" mean anyway? Everyone here says it but I have yet to see someone sitting on top of the subs in a lotus position Om'ing it up. Is that because of the midrange wobbles?
