It's all dubstep. I hate the way everyone puts a label on a track if it's not the norm.
From memory, dubstep is an experimental type of music. Shouldn't that entail the artists to experiment with what ever they want?

Actually we are both wrong, everything goes hand in hand, both sets of people hold up everything. But every music has a foundation and please just because some it's new and different does'nt mean it's pushing things forward.hellfire machina wrote:[

hmm I play a serious diverse selection whenever i play. i can also say im one of the only ones here in the scene pushing such a diverse sound and keeping a culture.
i know there are lots of people who play chainsaw or whatever you guys call it, but a huge way to keep people interested in a set is to keep each track different. i just played a fashion show on friday, great soundsystem. started with burial's fostercare, then went into kryptic mind's dissolved, then gemmy's rainbow road, then nero's fresh bc remix of hypercaine.... you get the idea. people were having it so bad! it becomes so entirely boring when its just tear out after tear out, and thats for any genre. trust, people will get tired of it, just keep it fresh is all i say. if you are seeing a trend like dnb's path went, keep it up to play out more diverse music.
i want to list the MASSIVE amounts of unbelievable tunes that were released this year... but i wont because i think if you all sit and think about it you will look in your crate and see the gems and the incredible variety this genre has given us this year. if you think its becoming overwhelmingly tear out, and the brolitariat is taking over, then i dunno... stop supporting the nights.

I know plenty of "bros". and they like my mixes, it doesn't bother me. Most of them party really hard and appreciate a phat baseline. Your argument is valid, although, I haven't ever heard a track that is "the hardest". It would literally have to make infants faces swell up and explode like a vigorously shaken up can of blood soda...

ATTENTION PLEASE! all we people that agree with the original first post are saying is that we're tired of hearing sets with the same kinds of tunes over and over. you dont watch a horror movie and expect to see a movie with scene after scene displaying guts and gore; a good horror movie builds up the suspense and tension, has a resolve, and a climax. not some cut/slash/kill scene after scene - this would only start to degrade the impact of the intensity. likewise, you don't eat the same foods every single day. you would get so sick of that food after a week or two that you wouldn't want it for months or maybe even years.
this is no different than what the argument here is. all were asking for is djs to spend a little more time in learning how to craft and perform sets with dynamics, putting some thought into it, and creating a varied set. selecting banger after banger is an easy way out, as you are guaranteed a decent reaction right off the bat. but what you people aren't understanding is that halfway into the set... or after seeing sets like this night after night, the novelty wears thin and the tunes that used to be "bangers" are now just decent. then decent soon becomes boring and dull because of such prolonged exposure to this stagnant movement i like to call brostep.
also i believe many of the people getting so defensive in this thread are probably huge richie august fans, so we shouldn't really care what they have to say anyways.
