There are just as many problems with grime as dubstep. I mean, let's be fair... How many people spat to Ghetto Kyote, and not one person thought, "Well, hey! Let me give this whatever-year-old kid who hasn't put the tune out on his own a shot, and let him do a track or two for my album?"

Lord knows Kano could use a few more beats like that, and a few less "Oh please let me get some of Dizzee's record sales!" songs.

At least with dubstep, if a tune doesn't come out, sometimes it was just never meant to come out... With grime, these producers don't necessarily have an audience for their tunes, and throwing a tune over to a DJ to get played doesn't necessarily help sustain themselves if they're hoping to benefit a little.

yeah i think its easier to say if you were much more heavily into dubstep that dubstep has lost more, but its not like grime is in the best shape its ever been either. both scenes basically peaked around the same times, more or less. not that they both dont have good things happening now, they do, but grime (barring a few artists) isnt exactly at the peak of its powers either. its lost a fair bit of what made it so essential in the mid 00s too. things are looking up for grime at the moment though, with so many records coming out, and new producers coming through at last, so fingers crossed things will keep improving.

this mix is quite good, btw... just finished listening to it. had prolly only heard a couple of these trax before.. i like trying to follow the evolution of dubstep, a lot of these pieces build the bridge between grime and dubstep. yeah i think peeps said this same stuff here many times already but I'm just reinforcing it cause its good stuff.

fuck yeah!!! i might.... buy it one 12" !

good grime instrumentals have always had so much more effortless swagger and musical content than most dance musics...my favorite era for instrumentals is still probably 2004-2005...
