I think you need to step back a bit and look at the wider view. To the world outside of the inward-looking circle of dubstepforum, dubstep means Burial, Skream, Digital Mystikz, Kode 9, Caspa, Rusko, Joker, Joy Orbison - i.e. a pretty broad spread! If you say "dubstep" to a reasonably clued-up music fan, the first thing they say ISN'T going to be "oh yeah chainsaw noises and puking samples" is it?

People need to clear their heads about this because the whole debate (the debate, not the music) is tending towards two camps each disappearing up their own arses and that gets nobody anywhere.

Yes but the truth is is that when your talking to someone isn't reasonably clued up about music, this is what they think.
For people discovering dubstep they tend to go on youtube and type the word dubstep, a lot of the results that come up is this 'Jump-up' sound with comment after comment of utter shit.
There also seems to be a image associated with the word dubstep that I really despise and to be honest I don't really want to be associated with it.

With respect, what a load of absolute bollocks.

Seriously, I just typed "dubstep" into YouTube and the top result is Mt Eden Dubstep 'Sierra Leone' - hardly a wobbler, eh? On the rest of the search page, I see names like Skream, Youngsta, Komonazmuk, The Widdler, a really good A Milli remix that I'd never heard before by Optimus Gryme. Barely a tear-out silly-noise brostep shit-yourself wobbler to be seen in fact! So you are demonstrably wrong.

If there is a bad image associated with the word dubstep, the association is in YOUR head. Don't taint it for the rest of us, eh?

Just because there are a load of comments on wobbler tunes, or on forum threads like this, doesn't reflect on the real world. All it means is that teenage web-warriors are into wobble. STEP AWAY FROM THE INTERNET and see what real people associate with "dubstep" - I think you might be pleasantly surprised.

SRLSLY I wish people would stop and think about this fact before they start banging on. If you believe everything you read on forums EVERY music form is constantly dead / not as good as it used to be / being ruined by kids and drugs etc etc etc. THIS is what spoiled D&B in the late 90s, the fact that the scene only looked inwards at itself, and people couldn't see what was going on past the tip of their own dicks.

How can you say "What a load of bollocks" I'm telling you that there's a lot of people that think dubstep is all 'jump up' (Have I in any way said that this is the case for everyone? no). I'm not talking of my arse here, maybe you and all the people you associate with in life are clued up on music but a lot of people I see every day at work, in town etc haven't got a clue.
All in my head? don't patronize me, I wasn't saying that everyone sees dubstep in this way.

Out of general bias I can see your point Rob, but like alot of people have said it's not really about moaning on a forum, it's about taking action. But no disrespect for you having an opinion on this stuff cause personally I don't agree with the way future bass music's going at the moment.

I'm personally sick of going to nights/listening to tracks and hearing a lot of the same old talentless shit, HOWEVER I can still appreciate the production that goes into some of the new tracks and people like funtcase etc just take the "wobble" sound to a next level where it sounds really good.

I get your point and thoughtthat your post was proper funny but like you said you've made a few dodgy tunes so surely allow all the people who make them and let them fade away into the background. As someone use to say to me "The strong will survive."

My 2 cents.

The amazing thing about dubstep is you cannot define it using words or producers names. It also isnt just a bunch of wobble sounds on 140 BPM. Dubstep is bass + synth + vocals...like every other genre but difference is dubstep makes people shit their pants when the drop hits them. This is what defines dubstep in my mind...pure kick ass drops that make you wanna bang your head against a brick wall so that your brain is exposed...ok thats just me then but anyway is stand by what i say.

This thread is huuuuuuuuuuge! and omg no i did not know Hobbs was 46...now i wanna bang her more
