For me it's not even about the substance necessarily. I mean it's always refreshing to hear positive lyrics. But guys like big L and mobb deep don't exactly have the most substanative or positive lyrics, but their flow was incredible, and the beats were raw. I just cannot get into those trap beats. I know a few guys who make really well produced trap house style stuff but I just don't like it. I like sample based hip hop for the most part (save for crossbreed style stuff like shigeto and herobust and bonobo). It just seems a lot of the mainstream stuff is not about how well you can rap but more about how catchy the hook can be. Everythings been slowed down and nobody even really seems to pay attention to what they're saying. It feels like most of the mainstream stuff doesn't have the soul that it once had. Back in the day guys like tribe and the pharcyde and de la soul and pete & CL were really popular and pushing that soulful jazzy style (theyre still popular today, but mostly on the underground tip). There's just not really the mainstream market for guys pushing that sound anymore (save for a few exceptions obviously). On that note, can't wait for the Rock the bells lineup!

This album is more full of shit than “2 Girls 1 Cup”. I lost so many brain cells after listening to this monstrosity that I needed to read the complete works of William Shakespeare to be a fully functional member of society again.
I wouldn’t recommend listening to this album, unless you like getting mentally raped by two walking abortions.
