Nu metal on the whole was metal's equivalent to brostep though
and I briefly listened to Linkin Park through people I know liking them but quickly realised they were fucking terrible before I bought any of their stuff.
Hybrid Theory really isn't that terrible. As long as you can ignore the most whiny singer that ever was. Haha. I can even jam breaking the habit or faint if the time is right.

Honestly, Slipknot's self-titled album is great IMO. "Eyeless" is sick. Their album "Iowa" has a lot of great grind influence on it, but suffers from Ross Robinson's over-produced style.
I have a special place in my heart for Slipknot if I'm honest. Talented musicians as well, and I do think Corey has a decent voice when he's screaming - not so much the singing.

I would probably still like them if it wasn't for that newest album. God. Vol 3 was alright, then they just fucking dropped then (bass) ball. Hence, Shitknot. haha.

I've never heard anything after "Iowa". I don't really have an interest in it. Those first two albums still get played on occasion, but only the fast songs - the singing just makes me cringe.

Iowa would be really good if Corey didn't sound like an angsty teenage bitch

Yeah, agreed. I kind of cringe thinking of most of the lyrics now. Haha. Honestly, metal is more about the music than the vocals for me, as in i can ignore bad vocals, but not a boring instrumental. So when vocals are good, it's just like icing for me.

Mastodon probably has the best vocals out of any metal band.

You're thinking of Tool fanboys. That being said, I really like a lot of Tool songs.

yeah, i used to like them a lot when i was quite younger.
i just thought
FUCK IT ALL! FUCK THIS WORLD!
FUCK EVERYTHING THAT YOU STAND FOR!
DON'T BELONG! DON'T EXIST!
DON'T GIVE A SHIT!
DON'T EVER judge ME!
sounded really cool and aggressive and it almost like made me pumped, but not for anything specifically.
they're first album, although i don't ever really listen to it anymore, is pretty good.
iowa is okay, but i never really liked anything else by them, except for a couple songs on Vol. 3. (i think duality, used to love playing that)

Snot.
They've got quite a humourous take on metal, but their talent in songwriting is unquestionable. They've got some serious riffs on their album Get Some, and Lynn Strait was a fantastic vocalist (RIP).

They make some awesome fucking tunes. Their fans though...
Every Tool fan you talk to just talks about all the cryptic/occult shit in their songs and how Tool is THE GREATEST FUCKING BAND EVER. "Idk man, I think..." "Yeah, they don't even fucking compare to Tool."

Forgot this.
Although not sure if it was Dio's band at the time, not too sure about it, someone here will probably know.
