Re: Production memes
I come from DJing, before moving to music production (like most people nowadays). And yes there are some really talented guy out here. Still, to me, the dedication, passion and talent needed to produce music outweights what's needed to DJ by far.

Lol fuck offFAARE FACED wrote:Because one is easy, and has returns (call it the way you want, local fame/credit/success/swag...) within few months.
The other is long, and the result of years spent on week nights at 2 AM tweating a fucking snare drum to make it perfect.
And given that 90% of the population thinks a DJ is "making music" live, I think it's great to clarify, classify and differenciate people between the bros with the serato gaze and beats by Dre from the producers working hard just by passion, without expecting anything back.
Anyway, this rageful rant is way off topic.

It's still not on the same tier as production.ehbrums1 wrote:you do know there is more to DJ'ing than autosyncing two tracks both at 140 bpm right....

Re: Production memes
no its different, i'd contest that turntablism is equally if not more difficult than production.jonahmann wrote:It's still not on the same tier as production.ehbrums1 wrote:you do know there is more to DJ'ing than autosyncing two tracks both at 140 bpm right....

Re: Production memes
Neither is just one thing, they are sets of skills. Some skills overlap and others do not. Writing a song isnt about how difficult it was to accomplish and djing isnt about 'real DJs beatmatch' do what you love and stop worrying. I know its the internet but just stop worrying, its not a leaderboard for a videogame, make what you want DJ how you want and let the chips fall.
Some dance to remember, some dance to forget.

Re: Production memes
Most groundbreaking edm tunes were made in like 2 hours
Just b/c spazzes get caught up on making a snare for 6 weeks doesnt make production more difficult than djing or v versa

Re: Production memes
You are probably right, the initial idea and a rough writing of the track can be done in 2 hours if everything flows together.rayman612 wrote:Most groundbreaking edm tunes were made in like 2 hours
But producing a decent sounding track from A to Z in 2 hours ? Well, I doubt it. Examples ?
Well, given what is said here : http://www.dubstepforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=268519, what about you fuck off and face the fact my statement is spot on ?rayman612 wrote: Lol fuck off

the issue isnt w/ retards thinking djs make music live
the issue is w/ u saying djing is so much easier than production when in reality its like comparing apples & oranges

Driving a formula 1 is clearly harder than, i don't know, cooking pasta, and you don't need formula 1 and cooking to be related. Anyway, you won't change my mind, and I probably won't change yours either.
