How about mixing back into the previous tune and cueing the new record from the drop.

Then the momentum can be held and you can move to another level.
Word... that's what the old breakbeat hardcore DJs always did. I'd love to see more hardcore-style DJing - dig out those old Mickey Finn / Carl Cox / whatever circa 1992 tapes and check out the crossfader abuse and the way they tease with tunes.... best of all how they'll drop a bar of a big tune here and there through a set - then when they finally let it run it tears the roof off....

Mind you I'm an old tnuc.
joe nice does teases all the time. he's been doing it for years now.

Just wait until Burial wins the Mercury prize, then gets up on stage and it turns out its June Sarpong

Then we're all fucked
It's funny cos it's true.

I find i miss the intimacy and atmosphere of nights and the consistent quality of releases from pre-Dubstep Warz , although there are a number of new producers who are forging their own sound and identity that are pushing things forward.

I remember when the Hatcha Practice Hours mix dropped and the excitement buzzing around as virtually every tune was new and unknown. Now with Myspace etc that air of mystique has gone, which i think is a shame, there's been a kind of loss of innocence in some ways.

definitely and i miss there sound, it was unique... its a shame because if u got into dubstep in 2006 then u probably wouldn't have heard much of them.

What's gonna be interesting is whether TV incidental music starts absorbing it the same as happened with d&b.... that's how mainstream ears start to become accustomed to it...

To be fair...i think that the Dubstep group has a good scene, supportive members and best of all, bangin beats with proper bass. I recently became a friend of Dubstep, and all i gotta say is that there is alot of love within the "scene"....it reminds me of the crew, or scene from back home in Los Angeles...tight knit, friendly, non violent people who collectively just wanna have fun!

good looking crew

I can't think of another scene where I'd happily post an open invitation to my home on a public forum and have such a nice bunch of folk turn up on a Friday night. Sure there may be a few prats about here and there and there may be a different vibe at some of the larger nights but on the whole it's friendly and full of people who understand what respect is. The scene isn't just about fwd...

S&D sealed my interest in dubstep, amazing music. Would love to see them making big waves in 08.

My favourite thing about dubstep is that when people ask you what it is, you can't really explain it. And even then if you go into the specifics, it detracts from the music and the sound. Dubstep's all about good sounds, great nights, bedroom producers and feeling it.

For me anyway.
