pot is actually extremely good for your brain
really? it didnt work for me.
i was doing well at secondary school (got 4 As and a B in my highers) until my last year when i started smoking bout 3/4 days a week. that year a failed 2 of 3 exams.
i've been smoking since i was in high school, and always did well. made deans list in college a few times with a daily habit. have maintained my job for the last 3.5 years on that frequent of a habit. as well as have painted, performed, had work appear in a gallery, and a variety of things, even still. almost every dance costume i have, i've made designed and sewed by hand, and i make an awesome meatloaf and chocolate chip pancakes; all with a regular habit.

to counter that, the times i had depended on the pharmaceutical industry to assist in regulation of my biochems, i had frequent severe mood swings, extreme anxiety attacks, slowed metabolism/weight gain, trouble with nightmares, trouble with my period and skin, complete loss of sexual drive and libido, paranoia, and at times paranoid delusions. As well as psychosis on Prozac.

i guess this is why no matter what anyone says, i know what my body prefers and what it cannot tolerate. Despite what the government or the pharmaceutical industry or any propaganda might insist, I trust the scientific data on the studies as well as my own personal reference.

if anyone chooses to dismiss the data, well, ok. I can't do anything about that. But I know what works for me. And I know what my body responds positively to. If you don't like doing it for whatever reason, then thats fine too. But relying on propaganda that has been proven to be inaccurate and false with an ulterior motive is just not making an informed decision. Again, no value judgment meant to be applied. The pharmaceutical industry has a vested interest in being able to regulate our bodies and criminalize those things that would not benefit their agenda: avarice and domination. If you get better, you won't need them again. And unfortunately, there is no profit from a nation of well individuals.

Sadly enough, its one of the reasons I think there will never be a cure for AIDS. Not that it can't be discovered....but a lot more money is being made off AIDS being an epidemic than handing out a vaccine. Seriously, our health organizations are not always concerned with our health. If you can make $200 dollars a month off one individual in need of chronic medical assistance, are you going to be willing to give the person a cure? Or a way of managing themselves that doesn't cost as much and doesn't produce side effects that your company also has a medicine for?

The less greedy you are, the more that answer might be the morally right one. But there is no room for morality when it comes to big business. :(

I like booze, I like pot. I will die at some time, let's have a bit of fun before that happens. I couldn't give 2 shits whether it makes me smarter, less prone to cancer etc, although if true, they are positive side effects.

People are free to do whatever they want, but you don't have to justify it with all this psychobabble and science.

dude think about what you're saying. you're saying that this new information that completely goes against everything we've been told our whole lives, that pot turns out to be really healthy, is psychobabble.

I wasn't referring to the 'information' as you call it as psychobabble, just some of the other posts I've read.

i doubt many people are smoking weird with the express intention of making themselves smarter, or activating their pineal gland, or curing cancer or whatever - but if that's a side effect (i really don't care tbh) then great

anyone else getting bored of constant weed chat?

so do i. i hear it makes you smarter, cures depression and gives you the ability to spout meaningless facts 24/7

I always thought that weed stimulates creativity (rather than makes you smarter - esp. considering the memory loss), but even then, surely it is better to be naturally creative then rely on a drug.

It's probably this element as well that is linked to the paranoia and the schizophrenia that effect some smokers.

This is actually going to be my last post in this thread.. I've really fought the urges to post this past 30 minutes, I didn't (still don't) think I've much to say that'd be constructive in any way, but I have to get this 'off my chest' - to hyperbolise a touch..

Parson - you're really no more than an obnoxious, sad, pathetic, misguided, bigheaded attention seeking loser. You're like a teenage failboat version of Michael Moore - you're clearly passionate, but you can't control yourself for shit and come across like a complete noob. You've got serious etiquette problems - I can't think what you're like in a real life situation, but hope for your sake you're not as ridiculously erratic as you come across on here - it's really not the best look.

Whether or not your 'facts' are true or not, I don't even believe you understand them - you obviously just copy and paste from various internet sources and one can only sigh in trying to deal with you.

I mean, you don't even ENTERTAIN differing ideas.. how can you comfortably preach your beliefs when you won't even take into appreciation anybody else's opinion? How can you know yours is right without considering other avenues of thought?

It's frustrating dealing with a know-it-all, ever more so a know-it-all who's main (and apparently only) sources of information are off dubious conspiracy theorist websites and various leftfield scientist's research.

With your passion you'd think a debate can be an interesting thing - but you only know what YOU know and your incredibly childish demeanor and way you come across is a fucking embarrassment for a man of your age. You should be ashamed.
