Use the groove function

more ableton problems. I've got PSP Vintage warmer on a return track. I bring the knee up and the ratio down, to parallel compress - now its creating a stereospread effect whereby my kick drums sound like they have chorus on them. WTF ableton. So many little probs

Update on this - the weird doubling effect only happens if I send the entire drum bus to the compressor, if I just send individual tracks within the group it works fine.. weird.

I purchased Live 8 with the free upgrade to 9 a while back. Does anyone know how to go about redeeming said upgrade?

Just go to the Ableton website and go to your account. That should have your products and you should see live 9 (upgrade) there. Just click the big blue download button and your good.

now it's my turn to ask a silly little question: the preview-function of my samples from my library keep looping everytime i wanna preview a sample instead of just previewing it only once.
this came up just yesterday and i cannot remind having done anything unusual.
anyone? thx in advance

close the folder it's in and then open it again. It's not the best solution but at least it works

What I did was just turned the blue headphone thing off and to preview a sound I just push the right arrow.

Turn raw preview on, it's the little 'Raw' button to the right of the little preview waveform. It also disables the auto-warping so it won't match the tempo of your project though.

ok i have this weird problem i dont think i've had before when working with ableton. i got these audio tracks that have been made in another daw at 128 tempo and of course my project tempo is also 128. now i can't somehow get them "on the grid" i mean they're not the proper length and all. usually you just drag them to the project and it's fine but somehow they won't settle on the grid. i've turnt warp off and i haven't had this problem before. is there some setting i could have accidently turned on? i tried to lay the tracks in reaper and it works perfectly so it's not about the files.

just set the warp markers yourself? Obviously the auto match algorithm isn't gonna work all the time.

just wondered if it's possible to automate the track-delay? on first glance i couldn't find anything in the arrangement view.
cheers

dont think its possible. it isnt even possible to automate pitch parametrs for a clip.
why would you do that ? why not use a loop and make its lenght dematch the beat.. or move it in the arrange window ... that function is meant to remediate latency issues... best way to alter a sample's timing in comparison to others is to.. move it around the grid..

You can automate pitch. Just has to be the right algorhtyhm

You can record pitch mods ONLY IN CLIPS! It won't show up where somethings like a Device On automation will show. You can either use a midi controller and record with the pitch bend wheel, or you can view your clip by double clikcing, looking at the bottom left section where there is a little E in a circle, click on that, a new box shows up to the left of where the clip actually starts and it has 2 boxes like the automation in the main editor, click on the top box and set it to midi ctrl then go to the box under it and click on the top paramter labelled...... pitch bend!!!!!!
PS: Extra top, you can do this with any automatable parameter (ie: lfo rate, cutoff, etc!)
Wording might be bad, there is a tutorial on youtube about this, it might be fro DubSpot but I can't remember, but ArtFX taight me the pitch bend
Ableton seriously is so intuitive and easy to manipulate. Open a new project and try out different things to see how they work and you'll stumble upon some awesome stuff, like the arpeggiato's swing function
