Does anyone know how I could sort of... Link automation in ableton?

Here's my issue, what I've been doing lately is automating the LFO speed of massive at the same rate as lFO tool right on top of it. It is incredibly tedious to go through and re-uatomate BOTH plugins every time I change one little thing making it really difficult to get a good melody or anything done.

Is there a way I can link both automations to stay at the SAME RATE and be automated by one automation curve?

If you want to do this on the same channel (rather than try to connect two controls on different channels) you could just hook the stuff up in an audio effects rack or an instrument rack and connect the appropriate controls to that macro knob in the rack

couldn't you just add a new automation lane and copy this automation without the notes in the other device's lane? that's what i do at least :-)

why would you do that ? why not use a loop and make its lenght dematch the beat.. or move it in the arrange window ... that function is meant to remediate latency issues... best way to alter a sample's timing in comparison to others is to.. move it around the grid..
i did a bootleg and kept the original voice, but layered a 12 st pitchshifted voice over it with a 60 ms track delay to achieve a chorus effect. now i just wanted to automate the track delay the gap between the original and the pitched voice) to give it some subtle movement.

not a good idea?

cheers.

you can copy automation by highlighting, copying, and pasting I'm pretty sure.

unless you consolidated them, just drag them out and it should reveal the whole sample, or you in your "samples" folder in the project folder for that project

what do u mean by "drag them out"? if i click on "show in browser" it shows me the processed, cropped sample, but i want the original file and i have no idea from where it is.

i've got a simple problem that i cant seem to accomplish...I just need to get rid of unwanted parameters i accidentally configured in fm8/ableton.
(i had the configure button highlighted as a made a patch, so it mapped a whole bunch of paramters along the way) Everything i've tried so far doesnt remove them.

also, is there a way to "unmap all" from a macro knob that i mapped things to ? rather than do them one by one.

I have a DSI Mopho Desktop. I have created a patch that I want to use and have set it up in ableton with the external instrument and everything works fine. I can play it with my keyboard and it sounds great. The issue I am having is whenever I draw in midi notes and press play, it automatically changes the VCA Envelope Attack from 0 (or whatever I have it set on) to 127. I don't know what is going on and it is very frustrating. Also, if i try to route the Midi track with the external instrument on it to an audio track it sounds horrible. I will get a lot of feedback and it is very scratchy. Does anyone know what is going on?

I posted this here in the Ableton thread first, but if I don't get any answers I will be making a thread for it on the main production board.

Thanks in advance guys.

I want to add another DAW to slave to Renoise and I saw that Ableton's intro edition is only 80 euros or something.

The only thing I really want to use it for is its audio tracks and warping. and I'll rewire it to Renoise.Think it would make some things easier. Would I be well off with the intro version or does it have some other serious handicaps I should know of? I don't wanna spend upwards of 300 euros for something like audio tracks.

Edit: got it. No warping. Fuck. I'll just wait for the release of Bitwig and hope it's not too expensive.

is it possible to timestretch samples in simpler? like if im using a oneshot sample or something and i turn on the loop function, is there anyway to do this and not have higher pitched notes cycle through the sample faster and vice versa for lower pitched notes?

No, sorry. Samplers in general usually can't stretch audio.

From what I recall from the intro version I was introduced to a few years ago, you can't consolidate audio tracks either. I only had it for around a month before I bought the regular version so while I don't know for certain what else it lacks, I'm sure if it won't let you do something as simple as that there will be a ton of other features they neglected to include.

Are you looking for them in Windows Browser/Finder? Like Rando said, as long as you didn't consolidate the audio you can just click on the beginning or end of the sample in Live and expand them to reveal the rest of the acapella you're looking for.

If you are searching for the actual data file, usually the title of the audio snippet will list the name of the file you got it from. Then you can search your system browser for that.

So, I've just finished a track. And I don't normally bounce to audio very often, but I decided I should just to simply things right at the end.

But I've run into something odd, everything I flatten, the wave form is the most absolute brick of a waveform humanity has ever seen. Especially my synths.

I suspected at first, oh I just over compressed, loosened it, got the same result. Turned the compressor off entirely, still looks like a massive brick walled waveform.

What's going on? Do these synth sounds simply have very little dynamic range? Or what? Cause with absolutely zero compression they are still a brick.

Synths are usually pretty blocky as it is if it's just full sustain and everything obviously. That's not a bad thing, just don't rely on your eyes.

ableton driving me fucking insane.. i got this big ass project that drives the cpu load bar to somewhere round 90-100.. i have an old laptop PC that i build my tunes on.. used to have a lot of high cpu load before i vacuumed the fan ports but i've never had a problem like this before

so basically, i bounce the track and at one certain point there's this fucking glitch i can't describe. if i listen to it in the project, there's a major clipping. it sounds really weird, like the track was somehow chopped at that point. now i can't finish the track because of the fucking glitch. it hasn't got anything to do with there not being headroom or anything, it just somehow distorts the track at that exact point and makes this weird glitch. drives me fucking nuts i tell you
