I had a bottle of sperm whale oil once.
I'd read that (very) old stock from the last whaling station in Oz was being sold
and sent for a sample.
I had it for several years in various fridges
wondering what I'd eventually do with it
& resisting using it to cook with when skint.

One day, during yet another move
& trying to minimize the cartage,
I poured it around a sapling
hoping that somehow it's magical properties would help the tree
& propitiate the long dead creature.

btw, one of its last commercial uses was to lubricate sewing machines

also does anyone know if you can put any other type of soap in your washing machine? aint got no washing powder
