so i finally managed to get one of my friends into "proper" dubstep with this album. played green & blue in the car and lent him my CD after he loved it. here's what he had to say:
"What an album, Phillip. Now I know why you feel the way you do about dubstep. The preciseness and complexity of this kind of music is unbelievable. I love how it never dwells on one sound or rhythm, it delivers constantly and just progressess like no other music I've heard. It really is something special. The originality and almost complete removal from other genres that I've heard makes for such a unique sound. The subtleness is something that I really appreciate too, how there can be so much going on but they still add that almost unnoticeable base line fives it such a cool feel. Everything seems so meaningful too, like there is not one sound that was put in there for the fuck of it. Damn this one hell of an album."

it's weird/interesting to see such an articulated opinion from someone that had never really listened to dubstep before. most of the time when i play stuff to my mates they just tell me it's boring!

yeah, he tells me it was quite the experience for him
"This struck me in a way that is really hard to describe. I listened to that album three times in a row last night, just laying in my bed not thinking about anything other than the music. It so sick because it feels almost like a trans state. Not moving a single muscle in your body but yet somehow the music seems to pulsate through it in a way you know."
it's especially funny cause this guy is never excited about anything, let alone this eloquent

Big DJ set in Newcastle last night. Shame the place was dead. There were more people there for the warmup DJs.

Everything said in this thread can be said for the new album. This music is exceptional. I will support it until time ends.

People usually get bored with stuff if they're expecting something else or not committing themselves to listening carefully. Thats not the fault of the producer.
