Have I missed the official naming ceremony or something? Can you really not get over the fact that some guy didn't really know what to call the stuff Dusk & Blackdown were playing so just said it was the stuff around 130 and people know the sort of stuff he's talking about?

the name thing is a distraction. the main thing is to build a concentration of diverse but connected fresh new musicians that can expand, grow, experiment with edgier sounds without either becoming what already exists (for example, house or trad dubstep) or all becoming one thing (stagnating)...

But is anybody ACTUALLY calling it 130? That's my point. He only called it that because starting a thread called "Post the sort of tunes that Dusk & Blackdown play on the keysound show" is a bit long ennit. Spur of the moment thread name from man becomes international incident.
We're obviously all open minded folk here, not like we're gonna be "that shit isn't 130 bpm, don't post it". Maybe for the sake of people worrying about genre names, he should rename the thread.

the use of "130" is a placeholder that allows people to vaguely know what we refer to but also imposing the minimum number of definitions, so things can expand and grow. honestly, i wouldn't get too hung up on it, it's the music in its orbit that i'm excited about.

And that's what 90% of people in here are about too man, so I wouldn't worry. Just vexes me when some bre comes in and chats egg about the name again, like it's a serious thing. Names can be anything, always gonna be producers out there producing what they want regardless.
Anyway, my vote is for this is how we roll-step.
Not sure if it's even been mentioned in here yet, but Filter Dread's tape on No Corner is one of my fave releases this year. So big. Might be sold out now though, not sure.

well the thing is the only people who seem to complain about the name are the ones who do not enjoy the sound itself. i don't get it - why would anyone spend so much time dissing something they don't enjoy - let alone dissing the name people use to refer to it.
