Hi Moldy!
about the topic,
I never really followed Pendulum because I think, at that time I was watching things more aligned with the Subtitles label..
..But I was going to say that they really need to change their kits up..they've been hashing those same sounds for a long time...but then I looked and saw that they are a band...? They still need to switch up and get more sophisticated or go full on into that trendy new rave trash and leave the dubstep alone altogether..
just my opinion..I've never made a tune so I'm worth about 1/12 of a dime, really.

this tune is not bad. it's not good. so what? if it had someone else's name on it, it would probably be big upped by a lot of people.

Spot on. I don't think it's bad as cheesy 'upfront' dubstep goes, could do with tougher snares but most of the sounds are good IMO. Shame there's no metal guitars though
-------
On the more general point, though: people should have more
faith in dubstep. There's no rule that says success and attention from outside the scene = fail. D&B might've fucked up when the world came knocking but that's because a) it happened very quickly and b) the main players were total dog-in-a-manger about the whole thing, over-protective about 'their' sound and allowed it to go shit.
I've said this before: there's no reason that dubstep shouldn't follow techno instead, and more gradually branch out from its local roots into something global which continues to evolve over years and produce new subsets of its sound. Yeah lazy producers might've flooded the market with a billion ripoffs of Jeff Mills in the 90s, or Hawtin & Villalobos in this decade, but techno as a whole has thus far been able to backtrack from those creative dead ends and occupy new sonic territory...

Utter shite......
leave that kind of sound to those who can actually do it, like 501 for instance, who came over from DNB to make some good tracks in that kind of sound.
Going through the motions they are. Gsus. Bad. Really.

yeah, i agree it is inevitable, look at 501 dubz, not saying i dont like his stuff, but dub you is pretty much how i thought pendulum would do dubstep before i heard this
also don't even compare this with rusko, rusko has alot more goin on
Thats the thing though, even if 501 comes from DNB and makes tracks that may sound a bit DNB, it is quality, trust. The guy is spot on and a great bloke who really feels dubstep, not just making tracks in dubstep to make tracks in dubstep.

Bet Pendulum would laugh at this brouhaha. They're just musicmakers that a lot of people go to see...young Cliff Richards. They've found a niche and made moula...get bored and fuck around with stuff they're hearing...make flash versions.
They're STARS! No threat to the earthling dubstep community, it's aesthetic or it's good vibes. If it aggravates ya, think: Rolf Harris doing Stairway to Heaven.
Grass gets greener after a storm.

but they'll still be shit..
do you still listen to them now? if yes, why?
if you hate them fuck them.. you don't have to listen to their new output any more than their old stuff... and at the end of the day the sort of nights that'll have dj's playing pendulum dubstep your already know will be student waste nights so nevermind.. let the trustfund kids have their fun and get on with doing what you do... its no stress things get more popular and as they do theres a lot of bandwagon jumping shit.. but you don't have to bother with it.. there will always be good music in the genre, if you have to look harder, so be it..

Established head: Nah mate, just kidding. It's me. LOL!

I don't think there's anything wrong with Pendulum doing dubstep. Good tunes are good tunes no matter who wrote them, and likewise with completely shit tunes.
