My usual is bit crusher, soundgoodizer (a little), and fruity limiter.
instead of bit crushing your sub take oscillator 3 and change it to a square wave @-24 and about 70 % volume gives almost the same grit to your sub bass why add effects if you can get damn near the same result

tried that there and it sounds pretty cool, but too gritty. What I like about using the limiters and bit crusher is that I seem to be able to keep my clean sub tone (though of couse I can only push it so far with bit crusher).

Do you guys have any suggestions for editing automation /editing events???

I find it pretty difficult to deal with the pencil tool or whatever to shape my wobbles, do pitch bends etc.

other than using my midi controller - are there any easier methods of drawing automation out or being more precise in my editing?

---
also, are there any good methods/plugins to apply an LFO to a channel as an effect? (some sort of external LFO, or something FL offers)? I'm looking for something easier to work with/arrange than massives LFO's, and I am also interested in applying an LFO to samples (wav), if possible. Any ideas?

any tips/insight is appreciated. I just want to be pointed in the right direction.

i might be pointing out the obvious, but load fruity fast lp on a mixer track, assign your channel(instrument) to the same track, right click on the cutoff knob on the fruity fast lp, it'll bring up edit events, then alt-o, and design yourself a basic wobble that way. this was useful for anything that doesn't have an lfo readily available, its somewhat flexible if you're patient

two quick questions
both dealing with internal x y controller in
slice x and sytrus

how do you link a perimeter on say a band pass in either of the x y controller that they both have
i just thinks its dumb two have to add one in the effect chain when there is one on either of them when i use them

...what?

You can link the x and y parameters to the cutoff frequency and/or resonance of any or all of the filters. Click the CUT button, click the MOD X button and draw a curve in. The X axis is the MOD X amount and the y axis is the cutoff frequency.

Great tutorial that was on the fruity website, didn't realise that the fruity limiter is also a compresser with a proper GUI, making it very useful...

Is there any way in FL9 that I can apply effects without having to edit the original samples?
For example, if in a short section I wanted a phaser on the synth track (but not on anything else) just to help create a build, is there any way I was do this without having to duplicate the synth track and create a new effects track for that synth line.

not that i know of mate, not much hassle to just duplicate the synth line into a new/existing pattern and route it to a new channel on the mixer and add the effect there, probably less hassle than adding the effect - if it is/were possible - to the small section of the song.

yeah, just automate the the effect on/off, or you could automate the effect amount. so you can mix it in slowly.

Sub bass...

I've got the basics...Albino 3, blank patch, set to sine, detune two octaves add to channel roll off everything above 65hz.

Now the question is, compressor or not and what settings should be used to elevate the perceived volume of the sub?

^there is a thread of subbass where people go into this very indepth - it's not a DAW specific question, more of a dubstep philosophy question :) do a search

What do people here like to use to get their mixdown set to a certain volume? Am saving the .wavs of a number of tracks and I wanna be sure I have them all at the same level. The peak meter only does so much.

For making an album or something? I never worry about that, I just try and balance the limiter on my master between loudness and clarity - usually the volume doesn't go up by that much...

couldnt you just add said phaser and create automation that turns down the wet dry for the phaser in the mixer window
