what's wrong with slow mixing?
Not slow overall. It's hard to phrase, it depends on the tune. Something like Stand by Quest or Vivek - Mantra you could happily roll till near the end of the tune and it'd be fine. Slow as in you can feel the room waiting for the next tune to come in.

there is a balance, at the beginning and end of the set i think it's ok to mix slower but in the middle where you're playing your most energetic bits leaving em in the mix too long can kill a vibe. imo anyways

Yeah you know sort of what i'm on about Riddles, its hard to describe tbh, but you can just take a dance to a next level with some fire mixing at the right moment. (goth trad getting on the Poison Dart/Seeker double drop, Commod with the Percy VIP into Hyperreal for example)

VIVEK was on point this birthday Thankfully. Sometimes his selection is very "rolling" and you lose alot of steam after 15mins of straight rollers. imo anway.
Going banger to banger is just as bad but yeah like johoosh is saying some people can just come on a blow the bloody roof off the place with some sick selection/mixing.

yeah proper good. Wen smashed it though wish he was the 11.30 set instead of opening as it would have been busier. J Cush was cool but thought he would play less trap/hiphop more footwork. Beneath was the set of the night, his sound on a decent system/ small & busy dancefloor is an absolute vibe. Sophie.....half the tracks were cool but the rest, just too neon/ moist for me. Visionist picked it back up at the end tho, played quite a dancefloor/ energetic set instead of his more sombre beats, was large
