they are twisting pots all over the place but i don't really know exactly what they're doing.
makes me feel like such a slouch on decks
Dancing monkeys dude.
That is fairly standard behavior.
Even ppl that I considered amazing on the decks ended up being pre-loaded sets through Cubase or Ableton with maybe, maybe an effect or 2 over.
Generally they are just doing random EQ changes to seem busy.
Not everyone though.

I often feel that I should be doing more than I am, other people seem to be constantly touching the mixer..

It's got VERY mixed reactions... bit of a love/hate sort of thing, I think. It's really grown on me, but I can understand why people wouldn't like it. It's crude as fuck really and sounds kind of rushed, but it's kind of exciting at the same time.

Kanye West actually thought he was dipping his toe into the art world with a conceptual album that would be years ahead of it's time for a hip-hop album and be a cultural reference point, shows his stupid arrogance IMO as it just comes across in the end as amateurish under-produced toss by someone crying about the trappings of his sought after fame.

Love Lockdown was a step towards the truly experimental vibe he was hoping to get (and missed entirely) with this latest sonic abortion IMO.

Ah ok, makes more sense. Maybe it came out while I was away? cant remember. Maybe it will grow on me but its not even as good as cruel summer and that wasnt even cohesive.

Kind of related
Queen of Pop Katy Perry just released her promo single for her new album "PRISM" coming out on October 18th.
Described as a "snapping trap anthem" with a "booming bass", the track features rapper Juicy J.

Nah, 808s & Heartbreaks was alright, just not fussed about his newer stuff whereas College Dropout had some serious tunes.

It takes a certain sort of personality to think your special enough to be famous... and especially to be a mainstream rapper. Most rappers are bellends, tbh, let's face it. It's interesting though how when rappers boasts are kept within HipHop circles, they're seen as positive, competitive or even endearing; but as soon as the same artists crosses over into the mainstream it's "too much ego". Rap's been about inflated egos since the 80s... Kanye's just got a bigger non-hiphop audience than most, so it feels more jarring.

its not even about his ego, he clearly lost his mind after his mother died. the change that happened was as clear as night & day. then he went on some next level dickhead ting.
