So maybe you could remove that track from your post right there?

How is the heart today, Bud?

Danny: digging the overall vibe, the drums sound really thin/quiet on my end though, maybe a tad too much reverb overall.

Bud: really really digging this one. Only thing that bothers me is the click on the melodic synth in the 2nd part of the song. It might be intentional, but for my ears its a bit unpleasant.

Dfault: love it overall, left a timed comment for ya.

jizzle: first one is really cool, dont have much to say about it tbh. 2nd tune has a great vibe going, a little more structure would make it peng imo

knobgob: Really dope stuff, I feel like a heavy/abstract bassline ala Sunn O could push this to the next level.

granpappy jose: love this one, each part works on its own and still manages to somehow come together into a 'tune'. big ups

Big up to everyone involved, each week has been killer :Q:

thanks for the feedback; yeh, i see what you mean cyclopian, think its due to the fact the loop i cut is not quite exactly 8 bars, had to work the beat around that and i feel it sounds a bit off at times

@danny fluid: liking the atmosphere and the vocals in the intro, overall feeling the melody and textures in the track, just not sure about the pitched vocals in the foreground in the main section. maybe it would be better to drench them in reverb see what nice textures you get, then cut that up and sprinkle throughout the track. personal taste. also i'm not a big fan of the hi-hats patterns, would have gone for something shufflier. also i would add some atmospheric elements in the outro to hide the nasty artifacts you got from the pitching on the vocals.

@budvar: nice one, quite subdued coming from you. as usual, loving how you used your vocals. i feel the rimshot snare could be alternated with another different snare at times maybe. wasn't sure about the bleepy melody but it grew on me on the second listen. not sure if its finished though, maybe i would add some more subtle incidental elements. maybe.

@jizzurp: for diego: weird, not sure what to make of it. i feel the bleepy sound could be a tad louder, also maybe put it through a dub delay so it gets warped and weirder as the tune progresses. liking the texture of that pad at the end, the bizarre panning sounds a bit strange on headphones though.

tenderhooks: liking the extremely wonky groove. the mixdown sounds really weird on my headphones tho, like there's an empty gap between the lower end and the higher frequencies. the drum hits a the end are a nice touch but i feel this could do with more seemingly random elements popping out of nowhere, maybe strings (preferably sampled) or some horns. idk

@cycloporn: really interesting sound design throughout, except for the part with the blatant amen, feel it sounds off with the rest of the mixdown, maybe its just me. maybe it could do with some more elements, more earcandy, but then again it could work like that, just not in a headphone listening context i suppose.

@knowgobiln: sick sound design again. maybe the drum hits could be thumpier/standout more in the mix, not sure that's the vibe you're going for tho? sort of reminds me of deadman's soundtrack... idk, i would like this to be bassier, but thats probably personal taste.

@nowaysj: its like...always new

I get that completely. The deadline is way too short tbh. Hip hop with a bit of bass is always welcome tho :6:

Aim for saturday, hit sunday I say.

Next week is a strange week. A page or two back Hubb posted some samples, we're using those to make a DNB tune. This is our first week in a few years of having samples and whatnot. You're free to do something else of course.

But yeah, Saturday/Sunday EVERY week, mate. It'll be rad.

There's so much critical listening going down when making a dnb track, compared with other genres imo. I had to give it up for a while because it was too demanding on the ears, creativity and my time.
It's really good training for producers, not least with what the tempo does to the frequency spectrum/ having to balance these blocks at that speed and keep it clean and that's why I thought this might be a good idea, but I dont think I'll manage to get anything done in time. I'll try ofcourse..

What a pussy ass beotch?

Four bars, mf, then loop it, and do something different with a synth. Then loop that, add a few hiccups, a reverby breakdown and then loop the whole thing over again. DONE.

Besides, my DNB toon is shapping up to be 110 bpm ;)
