On a semi related note I think my form for barbell rows is fucked because I can't really do them, like at my mates I was able to do 30-35 or something like that but then at gym I can't do more than 25 and even that's kinda hard. Might just practice on 15 or something till I get it right
switch to single arm dumbbell rows for a while and see if that helps.
inb4 wub tells you that rows are quad exercises

Molzie wrote:Deadlifts are viewed primarily as a back movement; as this is where the main stress is throughout the movement. Indeed, the lower back (the erectors) will become big and strong after a surprisingly short period, with the deadlift. The latissimus dorsi and associated muscles are also worked to a large degree - especially at the top of the movement.
Once you start lifting heavy, you'll understand what I mean.
The deadlift is a movement that involves both strength and speed. Although this exercise targets primarily the lower back, it also works the trapezius, the quadriceps, the hamstrings, and the buttocks.
Unless everyone here is doing stiff legged, in which case my apologies.

*edit*
I thought this is a pretty good breakdown of muscle groups used through a deadlift.

had a slightly sore spinal erector for a few days now. tried straps and hated them btw, im gonna get the big grips to improve my grip strength so i can eventually deadlift heavier without needing assistance, saw one of the PTs today DLing with 4 45s on each side with just chalk and he said that's how he did it

what are big grips? are they the foam/rubber things you put around the bar?
idc about grip strength tbh. I don't want my DL to suffer because I can't hold onto my max. My forearms get a decent hammering doing shrugs and rows etc anyway.
what are your thoughts on using belts?

yeah those fat grip things, i forget the brand name. i've never used a belt, not sure why i would need one, maybe if i was squatting heavier? or deadlifting? but i've never really thought about using one

I cringe at the gym all the time, people lifting their shirts to check their abs out whilst pretending they are scratching an itch, taking photos of each other etc

Ha there's this guy at my gym who does like one exercise then casually walks in front of the mirror just feeling up his chest for like a minute at a time

I was gonna start intermittent fasting today but by 9AM I was fucking starving and had some muesli and yoghurt. Maybe because I went to gym in the morning, I might try eating in the morning and doing the 16 hours fasting in the afternoon/night.

I drink a shit load of black coffee to keep me going in the mornings. That's the only thing that keeps me moving - especially when training while fasting. Your body soon adjusts to not eating.
I might switch to 18h for a while. I'm finding 16 too easy.
