in what sense are we talking white privilege?

like in educated/professional circles im pretty sure it doesnt really exist

only racism i ever come across is dumb-ass chavs saying 'get um fuckin out' 'takin our jooobs' etc etc

id say social class has more of an effect on you than colour in the UK

I don't really know what benny means by white privilege anyway lol

but yh i don't think i have ever seen any actual racism in my life, obviously the occasional dumb remark but never to someones face. (i'm not saying it doesn't happen tho obviously)

I experience casual racism almost constantly tbh

Maybe it's more culture phobia actually, but anyway..

It does happen but its usually older people tbh. I saw this guy in town (must have been 60) pop a middle finger to this asian guy and started shouting something about pakis at him. thats another thing i hate the word paki. It just makes me cringe when i hear it.

yeah fair enough i see that now and then (outright racism from scummy british chavs), but im sayin i dont think it exists too much in the way of opportunities and what u can achieve

id say uni is split pretty evenly between colour and cultures and the same in professional work places

Part of it is definitely that it's Denmark and how there isn't really any cities but just towns (because of the size) with all the shit that entails.
But thinking about it, it's all political in a way as it's mostly aimed at muslims and the idea of terrorism.
But people from Greenland are treated like Samoans in Australia or Natives in the US, so the habit is genuine. And if you only need a 'political excuse' to express that kind of hatred its probably in part a tradition to do so.

No no not at all, but it's sign of having trouble dealing with the issue and overcompensating. In the case of affirmative action in the US it backfired. It's complex and that's why you at least have to be open to minding it, as over doing it can have the opposite effect.

It's just not that simple, it's never just one brown guy compared with one white guy.
It's their entire context.

No doubt a first gen patriarch from a developing country will think it's a profound idea that his oldest son goes to liberal arts college and secure the line with his doodles. :6:

because as you said about overcompensating people think 'oh no i'm white how horrible my ancestors where i must make sure people don't think i'm racist' and then overcompensate

Everyone is treating racism like it's just yelling at people or beating people up in the streets though. I mean I was talking to someone at the weekend who said at one job they did the guy that hired people essentially binned all cvs with foreign sounding names without even looking at them. I'm sure that the guy doing that isn't shouting paki at people in the street so isn't visibly racist all the time and so goes unchecked on it but it does mean that anyone with a white British sounding name is gonna get the advantage applying for jobs through him

I'd accept this if we were only talking about white guilt. You get my point with the generational gap within an not entirely integrated family and whatnot, right?
That's just it really. At an odd chance some people might be undercompensated traditionally.

thats standard practise over here. which in turn lead to foreigners getting bullied in school because they end being called black or brown Svend
