I read death note... but I never watched it... I got as far as the new L and some goings on with him. I can't remember for the life of me why I stopped reading it but it made for a fantastic read. What I really need to get is some torrents and stick them on the IPAD. In fact I think I shall do that now... Hajime no Ippo, bleach Death note, and whatever else you guys recommend.

Just finish reading it. The manga and anime are close to identical, but as a general rule for anything, the book is always better.

I'm currently watching Excel Saga and Elfen Lied.

Elfen Lied is pretty cool, but ridiculously violent. I suppose some people will like that though.

Excel Saga is hilarious in a completely "WTF" way. I can't watch more than one episode in a row because my brain can't handle all the random shit that happens.

Theres monsters, and then theres these women warriors who are half monster and half human. everyone thinks they are witches and shit and are really suspicious of them, but they kick arse and murk all the monsters. Only 26 eps long; good for some people not for others.

Also theres D. Gray Man, which i need to get back on actually.... basically in that theres loads of Demons about Earth and theres a special society of people who have magical powers and are meant to murk them all. what i saw reminded me of early Bleach.

Both are good monster murking action animes.

Just finished watching Tokyo Tribes, that shit is sick. Awesome soundtrack, especially when jadakins appears. Kinda wish the ending was better though and they developed the characters more. Has anyone seen Paranoia Agent, its by Satoshi Kon.

The last episode of Naruto was the best one ever action wise imo.

Watched the first ep of High School of the Dead the other day, a good action based zombie one.

DEATH NOTE FANS WHERE YOU AT???
been meaning to get on FMA: Brotherhood. I know it follows the manga story more faithfully than the original anime but will I find myself getting dejavu throughout?

And yes, that naruto ep was epic. Can never get enough of the high frame rate episodes.

Also had Highschool of the Dead recommended to me. What sub group did you watch?

Two of my alltime favourite series.

I was the same with Excel Saga, could never handle more than one at a time. Some of the greatest episodes are towards the end tho I wont say anything.

Excessive as it definitely is I never found the violence in Elfen Lied to be the attraction, and it never felt out of place. It was always offset perfectly by the beauty of it all. The music still gives me the chills. [Von - Did you ever make that tune???]

To both of you, Gurrenn Lagann is the one. Can't recommend it enough. It might look kinda 'goofy' with the designs, but it's actually pretty deep, and easily one of my alltime favourite series and definitely my favourite 'modern' 26 episoder.

Collige, i really don't know whether to recommend watching dragonball z or not. I watched it during my early teens, and it was great at the time, and very iconic, but I think now the options for those epic series (eg.naruto/bleach/one piece), and anime in general are far greater and more rewarding. Dragonball z has very, very little relative reward given the amount of time you'll end up trudging through certain parts of it. I watched all of dragonball/z/gt and of the three the original dragonball series is easily the best. For slandering Dragonball Z I expect to take a beating, but I have to say, retrospectively, it's pretty lame.

I used HorribleSubs. I'm really hoping it gets a more in depth storyline than just zombie killing, but the action is good so far. might check out the manga to see if its worth carrying on.

Brotherhood... yes you will get deja vu but its worth it for this one. I didn't think it could be that much better :)

Last episode of bleach was swag, i hate it when they recap things we already know. not only that most of the first half was shown in the last episode. i really hate how they draw it out. hopefully the next episode is getting right down to it.

Naruto is rapidly catching up to where i stopped reading the manga.... this battle is awesome so far. I can feel Naruto vs Sasuke on the horizon... and with Sage Mode he might actually stand a chance...

Watched the first ep and i'm very, very impressed. I've seen so many 'high school students fighting hordes of the undead' kinda series, which are mostly dull as fuck, but this is fresh in a way i can't quite put my finger on. To be honest, with the quality of the animation I could quite happily watch a whole series of zombie skull bashing, but it has an excellent art style and atmosphere. Everything about it is so knowing as well, whether its the references to zombie lore, the intentionally ridiculous fanservice or all the cliche anime scenarios (cherry blossoms scattering outside school...check. But with zombies. Highschool rooftop scene...check. But with zombies). Oh, and loved the 28 Days Later musical riff towards the end.

Fansub wise, I watched Seiippai's version, which was good but had a couple of mistranslations. I hear Tomodachi and gg are meant to be good as well.

So its finally finished. Completely forgot to watch it on account of there being so much time between the release of eps. Will get on it now. I actually mentioned it ages ago in this thread.
