I'm sorry but the iPhone kicks the shit out of Android. The UI is so much nicer, it's got a great SDK (although admittedly, a less than great app approval process), a gigantic userbase, a massive app store with way more major developers, and killer hardware. I'll admit that Apple are dicks and don't allow any freedom at all, but that's what the jailbreak scene is for.
Here's what I said a while ago
Phigure wrote:Then there's also the massive "unofficial" developer scene. I'm willing to bet most people know what I'm talking about, but for those that don't, there's a process called "jailbreaking" that basically allows your phone to run unsigned code, ie, run things Apple doesn't want you to run. The first "App Store" on the iPhone has been around since the 1st generation iPhone, before the 2.0 update where the Apple App Store came out. Ever since the beginning, there's been a massive community, with some particularly great developers (ZodTTD, Saurik, etc), that's dedicated to producing things that you wouldn't normally be able to get on the App Store (or at all, when the App Store didn't even exist yet). Jailbreaking has been the answer to nearly all of the "missing" features that the iPhone had, from multitasking, to customization, unlocking, even BlueTooth. Because of jailbreaking and the community behind it, the iPhone has had the ability to actually obtain the features that Apple refused to provide. I've been multitasking on my iPhone since the first generation iPhone, and only now, on the 3rd update to the product, is Apple creating an official solution.
I know, it's lame that I even have to go to a third party to get the feature that the phone should have in the first place, and I'm not particularly fond of Apple for being as slow as they are with adding new features, but the reason I love the iPhone so much, is superior hardware, a superior UI, a superior OS, and the jailbreak community, for allowing me to have all the features I should have.

The iPhone/iTouch should be renamed to "Device That Amuses You While You Go Poop"

Yeah what you said there is a little old because iPhone4 multitasks like a sonabitch. It hasn't been unlocked yet either. I considered getting an Android but what pushed me over the edge was the apps that are being developed for iPhone, specifically audio apps. That Nanostudio is by far the sickest thing for a phone so far. Well at least from the research I did, it's not out yet. Couple weeks but it's probably never going to be on Android and also Griid the Ableton controller. Also the screen is sooo sick. 720p just amazing. You can look at full screen webpages and read everything on it. The lack of flash I have found only is a problem if you are trying to look at porn Youtube and Soundcloud and shit is not a problem.

I'm going to let the next 12 months do my arguing for me.
But given the superior speed, openness, and carriers available, there is no doubt that the iphone will quickly re relegated to toy status for apple fanbois the world around, while android phones will become the predominate tool for mobile communication, computing, and BEAT MAKING.

I am not an apple fanboi by any stretch but I did my research on the Android and came to the conclusion that it was not time yet. If you are right then my next phone will be Android but for now iPhone is the place to be.

I would go iphone for the time being too, but I cannot get on AT&T. I'm constantly trying to do business with people on iphones, and it is ridiculous. Full mailboxes, can't leave messages, and almost every call is dropped at least once. This shit is like the mid 90's again. I'm not going back to a carrier like that. Apple's only hope is to get it's fat ass off the at&t network.
Every time a call is dropped, I ask the other person if they're on an iphone, and they say yes and as soon as their contract is up, they're switching. Sell your apple & at&t stock, cause it's gonna get ugly.

NanoStudio is being submitted for approval on the 15th and it will probably take 3-4 days to be approved, so expect it soon
There's a jailbreak modification out for the iPad right now that's going to be released for the iPhone 3GS (and the iPhone 4 as soon as comex fucking releases the jailbreak) that allows Flash to work.

Tru dat. AT&T sucks. Getting rid of unlimited data is retarded (luckily I was already on the unlimited data plan so I got to keep it when i got my iPhone 4) and so is the fact that they throttle anyone who uses the network "too much". I never really have any issues with dropped calls, coverage is excellent in the area, the only problem I've had is the proximity sensor (that detects your face so you don't press any buttons during a call) acting up since i got my iPhone 4, which will apparently be fixed in iOS 4.01.

I just read something about the proximity sensor. I think there is a fix for it. I read something about it but I don't have that problem so I didn't get into it.
AT&T is pretty good here too. I have the unlimited as well although I am not sure if I need it or not. I am just going to monitor my usage for a few months before I change anything. That was the other reason I am considering the jailbreak... like you can't download a fucking podcast over 3g. They give you the unlimited but do everything in your power to keep you from using it.
