Jeez, my posts are gonna be huge! Gonna have to break em up into parts... 780 words on this article so far and I'm only about 2/3 done :o Plus this was already planned to be only the first half of a 2 part series. Looks like we got a 6 parter on our hands 8)

Why couldn't I write essays like this in school?

I'm finding it hard to find people worth commenting outside of the SNH lot...

If anyone wants to PM me some good music/art orientated blogs that'll be great.. I don't wanna just post on -any- blog, thats like when you got a email from soundcloud saying "blah blah has shared this tune with 93482903842 people" just not my style.

p.s - I changed from google friend connect to blogger so there is a link in my profile now! *Face palm* took me all day to work it out!

Yeah, I don't know what the f the difference is! At the beginning, this caused me no shortage of consternation. Think the og thread had like 40 posts from me trying to figure this issue out. :dunce: Honestly, still don't understand it. I think everyone rolls with friends connect.

In regards to commenting. Leg, you're asking largely the wrong people. I write my blog about stuff I'm interested in. But I comment on any old blog to increase readership, hopefully increasing impressions and some clicks! I wanna be like knelly, getting a nice lunch everyday. I don't know how he does it. I've never been anywhere near anyone's top follower list. Even though the last 3 comments have all been from me. I think maybe I'm rejecting a cookie from a specific service? I don't know. Back when a few of the blogs got started, they had a widget to show number of visits per follower, and I was never on any of them despite reading the shit out of their blogs. So much mystery w/ this shit.

Well, what I mean really is... I was clicking "next blog"the other day and went through 44 (I counted) blogs people have set up about their children. 12 blogs about make-up techniques and 8 blogs about shoes.

After those I got a bit fed up haha! I have tried lurking some of SNH bloggers' followers but got distracted, i'll keep doing that for a bit!

Hopefully by going through networks of networks of networks i can get a nice group of people to follow/comment.

You guys should throw links in your sigs here on dsf and any other related forums you're a part of. Get the word out to people who are interested in the same things. Post a sample article and throw a link in saying there's more where that came from. Shouldn't be looked down upon if you're sharing some knowledge for free and not just spamming. Also social bookmarking sites are apparently really useful for blog views. Gonna get on that hard once I've got a decent amount of articles for people to read.

How long would you say is too long for a post? I got a bit over 1000 words here I'm probably gonna chop into two posts. The multi-part thing might be good actually, gives people a reason to check back.
Also, I got $2 already from one click. Must have some decent ad competition then, they're actually relevant ones about mixing services and studio soundproofing. The more relevant they are the more you'll get paid per click.

Also, it looks like wayoftheworld will be joining the clan shortly, so you guys give him a warm welcome when he posts.

Yeah I'm still undecided on whether I'm gonna try to keep my subscriptions within my interests or just go after everyone. Kinda hard to find decent production blogs. I imagine the more relevant your topics are to their blog though the more likely you'll get a follower. You don't need to follow them for them to follow you right? Theoretically I could just go around and post comments to places in hopes they'll visit my shit? How does one secure readership? Can I trick them into it? :6:

welcome, newcomer... haha but i know right, but the gamers are the loyal nerdy type to create/frequent blogs, i love them all. it's also really easy to form an opinion on the games they talk about, plus they give great reviews that give me news on awesome games that are coming out.

Look, it depends on how dedicated you are to making some change from this. Some people whore themselves out using javascripts, others never interact at all unless they're interested. Both have varying degrees of success, so there's no sure-fire method.

But I will mention this: be picky. Be honest. Be yourself.

There are enough people out there that will read/support you no matter what you say, as long as you follow those guidelines. Ignore the blogs that are adverse to your taste, never pretend to be someone you're not, and express your opinion in relatable terms. These will enhance your enjoyment of blogging.

As far as the monetary side... well, write good posts and support your supporters, it's that easy.

doesn't matter what you choose, once you have the followers, if you blog about something interesting, you'll get a response. who cares if it's positive or negative.
