All over this tomorrow. Thinking of some kind of smoked salmon with lemon+dill creme fraiche type thing. Along with ham/cheese and also gonna steal that spinach & ricotta idea. Good call.

I'll let someone else organise the sweet ones.

My girlfriend's chatting some shit about how if you make the pancake batter the day before it tastes better? Can anyone confirm/deny this?

In fairness, I'd completely forgotten until I dragged myself down Sainsburys to get breakfast in bed ingredients Saturday morning.

Standard practice operating again in my place - ham & cheese/spinach & ricotta to get with, then sweet (looking like blueberries & ice cream this year) to follow up 8)
Yes Wub! Too many people neglect the savoury pancake option. Personally go for cheese, bacon and sweetcorn. Then some classic lemon and sugar ones for dessert.

Last year I managed to only eat pancakes the whole day. may have to go for that again

Its what they (chefs etc) say to do but honestly it makes hardly any diffrence.

supposedly the mixture toughens up if you dont leave it for half an hour beforehand. Same if you use an electric whisk to make it. Cant say I have ever noticed anything.

I've only noticed a difference when making yorkshire puddings out of the mixture, doesn't make any difference if you're making pancakes though

Ooh, my housemate's just reminded me he's allergic to eggs. Going to have to make two batters... one normal, one hippy.

cheese and broccoli for savoury >>

magma, i use baking soda instead of eggs and they taste a lot more like crepes which IMO is a lot better.

The carefully constructed spear trap outside my bedroom window wasn't getting any decent results.

All this talk of pancakes has made me hungry. Going to have to make some now, as well as tomorrow.
