think its something happening when you add it to iTunes . . .
file is fine, but i had to open it in a different program to get more than the first 5sec . . .

well maybe if thats your foundation in modern music, for some of the rest of us whos tastes go back further than the 80's theres a lot more to draw from.. for example the argument could be made that all hip-hop is funk, soul and R & B....

so back to this is skweee hip-hop thing...
theres bound to be some comparisons that can do made due to the tempo etc, but the ethos and methods behind separate it..
hip-hop has its sampling culture, the graf, b-boy and 'lifestyle' ethos behind it which doesn't seem present in skweee, a few of the skweee artists i know don't really sample anything and its got a freestyle method of production which is more like the approach of herbie hancock, larry white etc while some producers also taking in the circuit bending used by some modern electronica artists...
the main similaritys that people seem to make between the new wave of electronic hip-hop & skweee is the use (or dis-use) of a quantize function on beats.. although most of the 'new' hip-hop is still based on a sample(s) embellished with added beats and synths while most skweee seems built from the ground up with synths, circuit bent stuff and home-made controllers, and played in a live context with the same equipment.. the live shows and battles taking full use of this by actually having live jams improvising on top of segments of tracks. there can be comparisons made between this method of performance and hip-hop Dj teams but seeming that turntablism is a part of hip-hop this comparison (IMO) hasn't really got legs because a team of djs aren't going to perform the same kind of show as the more usual hip-hop performance of 1 dj and a few mc's...
therefore (imo) there can be some similaritys made in some parts of the methodology but that doesn't mean there are the same thing and one can not claim to be the parent of the other....

so yeah i guess there is a little bitterness in my post but hey, getting told you have no right to an opinion is out of order. same as being Pm'd insults for stating my view on music on a music forum.
