You either have phenomenally good luck or never learn your lesson.

205 was a first car and came to me with 76k on the clock, need a new alternator whilst I had but that was about it and it got to ~110k before I got rid of it.

106 I rear ended a Merc E-Class on the M4 and wrote it off. Left a perfect Pug badge imprint on his bumper but otherwise didn't scratch the other car . Insurance valuation was only £100 less than what I'd paid for it 18months previously IIRC.

107 was a lease deal, think I managed to burn the clutch out before I returned it, good going considering it was an automatic.

206 I had from ~25k until ~80k when I moved to Spain, tried to sell it to a dealer for a bit of cash but the repairs it would've needed (new gearbox/clutch etc) were more than the value of the car.

I fucking love Pugs. Even the smaller engine ones shift because there is no weight to them, sure they go wrong all over the place (clutch, gearbox, alternator) but the parts are cheap and plentiful so fuck it, not like they cost a lot to begin with

I've got a bit of an irrational dislike of French cars, to be entirely fair... I love Peugeot styling, but something's gone wrong almost every time I've driven one. When my first car got written off, I had pretty much decided to get a 106 but saw 2 in the same morning and something fell off both of them whilst I was looking around... in the end I bottled it and bought a Fiesta which is to date both the slowest and most comfortable car I've ever owned; my girlfriend was actually pissed off when I said I was getting rid of it for something that could go up hills without changing down to third.

Whilst we're on car histories:

First was a 1991 (H) Rover Metro 1.1S - had it from 70k to about 115k when someone broke into it with a crowbar on NYE writing it off. The most annoying thing was they entirely failed to steal it despite fucking all the electrics trying... and the fucking boot was unlocked so they could've got in for free.



Second was a Blue 1991 (J) Fiesta, 1.1LX



Then I decided new cars were less likely to get broken into, so I committed a man-sin and bought a GOLD 2000 (W) Ford Ka Collection:



Finally, I came to my senses and bought the love of my life, a 1999 (V) Toyota Celica with all the trimmings:



Only I gave it the 2004 Weston-Super-Mare treatment with 19" chrome wheels and a PC in the glovebox.

Because I'm fucking fly like that.

My Mum sold it after I left it in her garage for 4 years after moving to London. Just left me a voicemail saying the money was in my account.

That's at least better than when my gran sold what used to be my dad's 1976 TVR with a (completely illegal) Ford racing engine he put in it for £1500 that was stored at her house after going a bit senile.

When I was looking for what eventually turned out to be the Fiesta above, I turned down buying an original John Cooper Mini for a few hundred quid because the old lady selling it didn't know what it was... it'd been her dead husband's pride and joy, but she thought it was just any old Mini that'd been looked after well. It should've been in a fucking museum.

To this day, I can't really believe I told her, but she lived about 4 streets away and I knew it would've caught up with me eventually.... plus I'm not sure I could've insured it. I hope she sold it to someone that looked after it.

Ended up getting impounded and then (literally( scrapped about 3 months later with only 16000 on the clock so it got what it deserved

My girl at the time wouldn't let me buy one without the body-coloured bumpers - refused to be driven around in anything that looked like it was wearing Pampers.

The details are abit fuzzy as it was a few years ago now but, my gfs aunt used to drive a KA, she drove it into the back of a garbage truck( uk name?) and wrote it off. She had my gfs mum in the passenger seat and as youd expect the air bags went off.
Except according to whoever delt with it all (insurance/garage), Ford Ka's (or atleast her model/year) dont have passenger air bags and had it not been in there gfs mum would have been in hospital in a really bad way. They couldnt explain why it had one in it.

Edit: haha wub, my gf up until June this year drove an 87 micra The red beast was pretty sturdy and lasted 3 years of her crashing into things and getting crashed into.

My housemate final year of Uni had a Kia Pride that was a bodykit ripoff of the earlier Micra models. He put it into a tree reversing out of our drive one time and twisted the chassis somehow, instant Cat B write off

That's awesome. My one definitely didn't have a passenger airbag... it had the world's smallest cubbyhole where every other car has a proper glovebox.
