@Crackasteven Really digging this. I think that some parts need to be more repetitive like :44 I think should pretty much be the same as before but with some really subtle changes. Then later on go to the part at :44(if that made sense haha). Also seems like the top end is kinda muddied with the hats and high pitched stuff. Really like the bass. :U:

@Rebel Some nice bass sounds in the intro. I think that it filled nicely in later on. Drums could use a bit more power, kinda dull right now. That drum roll at :40 is sexy haha. The vocals don't really fit for me in the intro. I think i should definitely come in though maybe with some reverb on it. would like to see where it heads.

@Teknian To me it felt like everything just fit right in.Good intro. I loved how the strings and pad fought back and forth during the main part. Seemed maybe a little muddy in some places but nothing eq can't help :) Can't wait for the rest.

Just made this in the past couple hours home from school. There are some obvious problems with it but just wanna hear what you guys think.

Hey guys, just started a new track today. If anyone likes Tyler the creator they will probably find this kind of neat, was bored and decided to do a bootleg remix. This is just 4 hours or so worth of time and is super rough but check it out if you would!

Thanks

Please give feedback to AT LEAST 3 people before you post your track.. If you don't you'll probably not get feedback yourself. Its just common decency anyways!

Made some changes on my track so thought I'd post it again, also probably wouldn't get decent feedback as it's at the end of the last page..

Soundcloud

Gaufre - Very nice percussion in the beginning.. I can't help but feel it needs to very fast decaying reverb. Very nice minimal kick and the pad sounds great! Build up now, I like the granular type atmospheric sound.. Wobble fits perfectly with the feel of the track and sub bass is mixed nicely. The change at 56 seconds came just in time! As the song presses on I think it definitely needs a change... New percussive patterns, new atmosphere.. Great job though!

Manimosity - First off man, you gotta post feedback to at least 3 people before posting your own work.. Atmosphere is very nice and the hat pattern is cool.. You need to make the hats not "stick out" as much if you get me? Using reverb with a short decay is one good way of doing that.. If this is your first track though it's actually pretty sick mate.. Sounds like you are using FM synthesis...? Is this all original and it's your absolute first track? Hats off to ya!

Applewater - Snare is nice and weighty but the kick needs more "substance" I think.. I like the voice. The first atmospheric sound needs compression with a good bit of attack I think! I like the panned and chorused voice! The bass sound is good but it definitely needs to be contained massively!

@ Gaufre. Nice track so far. I really like the sub. The snare could stand to be a bit heavier. I don't dislike the kick but it seems like it could be a bit lower (maybe try tuning it down). The open hat gets kind of monotinous after a while. I like the filtered pad throughout although it could use some eq cuts throughout some of the automation, it sounds like it's peaking out and some slightly unpleasant places. All in all nicely done.

@ applewater. I really like the first "wobble" that kicks in. The second bass isnt bad but could defenitly use some movement to keep it interesting. The kick almost sounds like its clipping in the high end and doesnt come through with enough low end. The snare isn't bad although it sounds like there's a delay on the high end. Also it sounds like you're using the same bass for your mids and subs. I would cut off the mid range synths around 150-200 hz and then add a straight sine sub bass underneath, it'll make your sub sound a lot more powerful. Also the string synth in the beginning sounds a bit too cheesy for me (just my opinion though) maybe try to find some actual string sounds. The kind of gangster lead that comes in after the strings should defenitly be brought out more as well.

@ rebel. Drums defenitly need a revamp. Don't dislike the pattern, but when the hats hit 16ths, try layering different hats on top of each other and or modulating the filter, resonance, and attack on the hats you have to give them some movement so they don't sound so stagnent. All in all the mix sounds a bit muddy and cloudy, not clear enough. I like the bass sound and the automation on that. Maybe try having you sub follow its automation with an LFO or envolope assigned to modulate the amplitude of the sub to give it some more movement. All in all a really good start.

@manimosity. Really good start here. Some glaring things though. There's way too much below 150 hz here. Really the only things that should be hitting under that are your kick and your sub bass, otherwise it just mucks up the mix and makes your sub sound weaker. Not very fond of the kick, could defenitly hit lower and it doesn't have much power. Snare isn't bad but it has too much reverb so it lacks attack.

@ascian. Some really cool sounds and melodic effects in the beginning. Nice sub. sounds like the hat is kind of random and also has an echo so it almost sounds offbeat. I like the kick a lot although it could stand to be dropped off below 80 hz. The snare needs to be beefed up to go with that kick. Crank it up at around 200 hz or layer it with a snare with a good punch to it. Also it sounds it could use a bit of reverb to give it some more character so it doesn't sound so flat. Mix itself sounds pretty solid. Like the midrange sounds. Nice work.

This is a track I've been working on for a while now. I know it needs a lot of work but I'd love to get some feedback from where it stands now. Thanks in advance.

@ Gaufre - I'm happy to hear some real dub today man, inspires me to make more chilled out tracks for sure. The only thing I could really suggest is maybe adding some square wave wobs in there in a few places to accent deep flutter. In the second drop, I really like that pulsing sound that glides down. The ambiance and pads are also very nice. Drum work is sweet to man. Gotta really good start with this one keep it up.

@ applewater - intro needs some kinda hihat work, also bring that sample up some, its really soft in the mix. also the snare sounds good db wise, just eq it a bit more to get that punch, try boosting around 200hz, I had problems getting my drums to work right for a while, you'll see in the wip I'm going to post. The drop is very powerful man, that bass is nice an heavy. That whipping sound when the drops stop could come up a bit, its a cool sound push it out there. nice variation toward then end also, got a really good start man, keep it up.

@ manimosity - sweet pads man. bring those drums up though! after hearing alot of feedback on my tunes, the drums were the most nagged part of my tracks, an yours def need to come up in the mix. kick an snare both sound good, just bring'em up some. nice creepy drop man, really liking those wobs, kinda like what I'd suggest Gaufre up there to use over his track. that pad in sound in towards the end sounds a bit loud compared to the rest of it, maybe bring the rest of the song up, to that db level.. either way, try to even it out some. really good start on this one as well, glad to hear alot of dub tracks being posted on here.

@ ascian - I'd still bring those grime basses up a bit more man, everything sounds great on this. not sure how well bringn up those basses would pan out given the vocals roll right on top of it, but it should clash at all if the frequencies are spaced right. I'd just like to hear those basses come up man, this track is really good.

@ cmgoodman - haha, this is actually really awesome man, didn't expect that drop at all. mix sounds damn near perfect, synth work is awesome, tons of variation an glitchy type cuts, nice filter automation as well. very sweet work man, Props!!! Oh shit, didn't expect that second drop either! nice mixture of elements in this one, I'm really impressed with this. keep up the work man, this track is INSANE!!!

took all the feedback in, and basically everyone suggesting boosting the drums. for some reason I hadn't frequency split them right, the values were all jacked around. excuse the repetitive structure I only worked on the mix yesterday I'm going to do more variation on the drop, an try some different things with the build tonight. Let me know what you guys think about the kick an snare though, I'm finally feeling like they are cutting through the mix just right. good day DSF

cmgoodman1226 wrote: @poadude, really like the idea behind the second one, nice sidechaining, like the kick, snare (or snare clap) seems pretty good, could maybe use a bit of light distortion and maybe some compression to bring it out a bit. Also the saw wave portions of the synth need to be beefed up as they sound a bit weak next to everythin else going on, distortion, eq, maybe some like chorus and or reverb, etc.
thanks a lot for the advice I actually started a different Project with a similer idea

@atticuh, interesting idea with the tempo switches, i would work on getting crisper drums via compression, layering, etc
@jimbeaux, i think the drop follows fine with the intro! gnarly bass :D the kick kind of gets lost in it though. the transitions at the end to and from the interlude were really great! i wouldn't switch those up at all
@cmgoodman, awesome! i would make the wobbles a little louder in the main body of the song so that they keep up with those rising sweeps, because thats a great noise you have there! respect. at the middle i would keep the cuttoff a little higher so its not so still have the lows when it drops out. the second drop to this song is so nuts hahaha, honestly sounds like something i'd download!
@ ascian, dude serious respect, i love how the tune starts out in a more typical dubstep style then soon after drops into this melodic beat heavy segment, seriously love it

i'd as much criticism as i can get on this! any pointers or tips would be welcome, thanks guys :)

I like what you have going here. A long melodic into that some may lose interest in, but I love the sound you've got going on. Especially when you bring in the second "set" of drums. I would definitely say it is worth continuing. Right where you have it ending is where, imo, it should explode because it's got a feeling of this tension that is building up this entire time and that point feels like the climax.
Verdict: Keep going!!

Edit:
Decided to put one of my WiPs up in here. Let me know!

@kotu - you need to give feedback before putting up tunes for feedback. Rules of the thread. Thanks
@bayda - intro is quite drawn out and gets rather boring. You need to add a few things in there that keep it interesting. Other than that, I think your song structure is generally quite good and your synths are interesting. They need some work, but keep it up. Your drum samples are horrible (no offense). Get some better samples - some harder-hitting kicks and punchier snares. I'd also compress them all together (read up on New york/parallel compression).
@atticuh - really nice creepy intro you got going there. The detuning on the synth is perfect, adds to the feeling. The change up in the intro is also very cool. I don't know wtf happened at the drop though... any flow was lost, then you drop into dnb, then dubstep - it's all over the place. And lol at the oldschool vocal sample :)
@jimbeaux - I think your snare needs more topend. Your kick also seems a tad quiet and lacks some real power, to match that sick bass you got going. Nice cutoff automation.
@cmgoodman - not bad, not bad at all. Imo (this is purely a subjective creative comment) - those really high-pitched synths could go and you'd still have a killer-(aka focus on the sub rather than that ear-shattering sound). I also think your snare needs more tail, and more topend. Love the glitched vocals in general. The switch up in the breakdown is far too sudden.
@gaufre - not bad. In my mind the thing that stood out the most were the drum samples. Structure is good, nice variation on the basses and synths (was always interested in the tune)

WIP for the past 2 weeks. This is super close to finished. Thoughts?

I like it. Great vocal sample with a really good atmosphere surrounding it. Around 4:30 is my favorite part. The bass really compliments the other pieces by adding to instead of stealing the attention.
Verdict: Love it!

Started working on a new track after learning how to automate cutoffs on Massive. I know virtually no producers in person, so I figured I'd give it to you guys and get an idea of how you feel about it.

Lemme know! Honesty encouraged!

Edit: I'm not happy with the "drop" because it feels very bland. I know it sucks, but how about the rest of it? :D

@5yntaX

I like the piano build up, and the scratching noises in the background, along with the lead synth there. Kind of reminds me of starcraft, if that makes any sense. The vocal sample really leads nicely into the drop. Drums are good, but it could use a little bassier kick. Very anthem like, easy to hum along to or bob your head to. Drums get a little busy and tinny around the 1:30 mark.

@Amphibian

I like it. It's not my favorite genre, but the drums sound really good, and I like the synth lines.

@Kotu

The intro's really long and made me want to skip through it to the part with the drums, but once the drums kicked in, I found it very listenable, and enchanting. It sounds like a good intro track for a DJ set or something, but if you want to work on it for a longer song, I suggest you change up the feel and make it kick, unless that's not what you're going for.

@Bayda

The intro really attracted me to the rest of it. I like the shuffle style of the drums; very Rusko-esque. The bass was good, but I didn't really like the metallic sounding filter on it. It's also a tad repetitive. It could use a few synths, and MAYBE be a few BPM faster. Feels a tad slow.
