They're not actual subgenres, they're just labels that make things easier to talk about. What's easier, saying 'the aggy, Coki/Kromestar/Jakes sound' or 'tearout'? They're all dubstep, these labels are just words.

I wasn't laying down rules, I was trying to show the similarities. In metal, Deathcore is the brostep of dubstep, it gets a lot of stick from the oldheads.

I should point out that I'm not a genre snob. Only time I go overboard is when someone calls dub, dubstep.

But it really, really isn't. It makes sense when you compare how similarly they're treated by oldheads the further you go down the scale.

maybe in terms of the way its treated, but not in terms of musicality
