Sounds cool. I'd like some pointers on it.

That whole clip was really rad dude, would be happy if you said how you made any of that really. How did you come up with the arrangement? It's dope.

Honestly thought the growl was fine... but that choppy bit afterwards (i.e. 8-10 seconds)! :h: :h: :h:

Any pointers would definitely be appreciated for that second sound as well mate

Here's a sound I made; the formant is made by automating the cutoff and width of a custom filter in Harmor.

Wow, that's sick, I'm a logic user too man. How did you do it? What did you use?

Sorry if this has been posted before; I've only read up to about page 75 haha.
Really cool vid about Far Too Loud from 2012

Can anyone explain what he means kinda? It's like I UNDERSTAND what he means but have absolutely no idea how to apply it to my own growls. Guitar Rig confuses me. :u:

I think I'm addicted to this one... it took two fx insert in FL to accomplish and a very weird sound in Fm8.

That sounds sick! You mind sharing it?

The preset is a ton of fuckery tied to the X and Y params and so because of that, I can't really explain how I got the whole sound to work.

This is the filter I made. (http://www.mediafire.com/download/zsgm0 ... Filter.fnv) Image

The width and cutoff are both modulated by the X and Y params, so if you want to use it, you'll have to figure the formant out for yourself (like I said, the whole preset is experimentation and it's specifically geared towards the song).

I hope that helps :)

In FM8, I set up a triangle wave with feedback modulating a sine wave with different envelopes. Digital distortion and unison help.

As i listened to this track I remembered I had a similar growl preset. As you can see my memory is shit and the automation is pretty off too, anyway:

The initial patch was made in massive and sounds like this:
https://soundcloud.com/smile/skrillex-b ... fx/s-c0Ckr

After that I shape the sound with MB distortion EQ and compression and round it off with some reverb.

actually to make a growly type you dont need massive, wow filter,fm8 etc.only u need a dist vst like ohmicide so

all you need are the standart fl plugins like :

3xosc - it works great if you put all the 3 oscillators in the fifth waveform (the one near the noise waveform. and put all the three oscillators at -12 semitones.

second : ohmicide (only this one isnt standart fl plugin) distord the sound a little

third : fruity effector - phaser and automate the shit out of him

if it starts sounding pretty good but u wanna do it better add another fruity effector - phaser and automate that shit again until it sounds pretty good.

fourth - vocodex.play with it until it sounds great.

idk if i explained it good tho

I was watching a Seamless tut one day and then went off on a wild tangent for no particular reason, and created something verry interesting IMO. https://soundcloud.com/knifepartyftw/fun-with-sytrus
(6th and 9th sounds I believe, forgive the rest as I made them when I started two months ago.)

It truly is a monster bass because when FX are left on then it creates feedback endlessly. Very unruly but awesome. Anyway, pitch envelope on first osc in Sytrus, it's modulated by another sine and both are fed into the filter 1 for some distortion action. Turn off the svf or whatever and crank up the waveshaping. You should now have a ridiculous sounding adorable reesey thing.

Send it to an FX slot and add a PMEQ2 and then give it a 10.3 db boost around 2500hz for no reason. Then bring the high shelf all the way down also for no reason and cut the inaudible low end.
THEN, waveshape it. go crazy have fun lol. I made a random very sharp shape and it works lol.
Now some Ohmicide. I pretty much did random things until I liked it but I'll try to describe it.
Band 1 goes to 191hz and has phatness around 9 o'clock. Intensity at 87%.
Gain at 9.67db and alt distortion at 100%. Dist type is Porridge.

Band 2 goes to 1500hz at 100% sharpness and also max intensity. Bitcrush and 42db gain and alt dist at 40%. Side dist is on. the other bands are off.

THEN we put open a patcher and feed it into THREE consecutive Maximi! So it's getting compressed three times! Then we hook it into a EQ and do some random boosts and dips to taste. Feed it into a WOW at band reject but not vowel mode, this is just for grit. Then feed the WOW into a Ohmicide and a Maximus and a eq but not into each other. Some aggressive EQ to remove high end. Here's some pictures to help. Image Here's how the patcher is set up. Here's the Ohmicide settings.Image

Now we add a Vocodex in our FX rack, and here's the settings for that: Image Draw tons of squiggly lines in the other windows.

More Ohmicide. Image

And then a Sausage fattener at 30% fatness and 50% color and -9.5db gain.

Then a PMEQ2 and put in four notches and automate to taste. :corndance:

I hope it helps some people and I hope that the people better than me can help solve the watery-ness that the notches give! :D I've tried taking away some notches but it doesn't sound as "Skrillex-y".
