Re: DayZ: An open-world, perma-death zombie survival game
And I feel I have to explain a few things for you man. Confused me for so long.
Inventory is a confusing fucker. Where you have all the items listed, on the right side is the number of those items you have in your inventory, and the number on the left is the number of those things in the things your looting. You click the little arrows to move them to each side. Certain objects go in certain parts of your inventory on the screen on the right, most stuff (food, drink, ammo for your main gun, flares etc.) Goes in the big 3x4 (i think) slot on the screen, and ammo for your pistol and bandages for some reason go in the smaller space below it. You can only fit so much in em obviously. Then youve got your bag though, on the list of the items in the inventory on the left, at the bottom normally will be your bag, if you left click this an option will appear at the bottom saying open bag. If you do this, a new screen will come up with the number of slots in it according to the type of bag you have. Then you can move items that you can put in it from the list of them on the left by the same method, clicking the arrow things.
Lastly, if you dont know, you eat and drink and use bandages from your inventory screen. When just running around, oress G to view your inventory (gear) then right click the thing you want to use, and click the little box that pops up.
That paragraph would have saved me hours lol

how is the actual mod installed? Do you have to download every file on that external link? I tried just grabbing the latest simpler installer but it refused to accept a directory for some reason

i think wobbles plays on uk8Dub_freak wrote:Anybody else play on uk7?
i haven't bothered playing on any euro/aus/asian/ru servers as the ping is usually double or triple what i get stateside and plenty of the stateside servers have utc-5 utc+5 servers for if you aren't geared up and only have time to play at night
Re: DayZ: An open-world, perma-death zombie survival game
uhh well I don't think my computer can cope with this unfortunately. Has anyone got a link for those compressed textures?
Re: DayZ: An open-world, perma-death zombie survival game
Looks like something brilliant and original! My PC was great back in the day, but now I'm worried new games will just run too poorly on it.
Can anyone report on what the performance is like? The YT vids looks really nice, but I'm guessing they all have monster machines.
My comps specs are:
OS: Win 7
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 2.66GHz (Dual Core)
Memory: 4GB
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce 8800GTX
My display is 2048 * 1152 which I'd ideally like to play in, but I guess I could play it with less if it will be too terrible.

Re: DayZ: An open-world, perma-death zombie survival game
I think i came across Wobbles on the New York City server, would make sense.
The UK server's dont work for me, for some reason, they either refuse to connect or make me hang for unknown ammount of time while loading mission data.
Alty, google Systems Requirement Lab and see if your machine can handle Arma 2.
I only have two complaints for this game:
1) Zombies are too fast
2) Needs melee weapons.

Don't because it will only lie and break your dreams later on after youve bought it and realise it cant actually run it wellidontreallygiveashit wrote: Alty, google Systems Requirement Lab and see if your machine can handle Arma 2.

Re: DayZ: An open-world, perma-death zombie survival game
As I recall ARMA had no melee system... not even knives. I've only played ARMA2 a few times but I think it's the same. I dunno how possible it would be for them to add a melee system for DayZ. I think if they could, it would have already been in there as melee is a standard survival too. It would be amazing to be able to pick up stones/pipes/boards etc and use them to bash zombies, or use your rifle to bash people when you're out of ammo.idontreallygiveashit wrote: 1) Zombies are too fast

There were a couple of melee mods for ARMA though buggy.

Would be cool though, could devise some proper stealth strategies. I updated my game so i can play in all servers, i'll most likely be in one of the UK servers now...

Re: DayZ: An open-world, perma-death zombie survival game
I'm currently in the Finnish one... my god, i finally found my first shotgun and was chuffed! I had avoided all zombies (and dickhead people) so i go do a little more exploring and come across an empty house. Go in, and there isn't anything in there, so i decided to leave. Two zombies walk past the window! I shit myself, and close the doors. I ask on the chat if zombies can open doors and they just went "nah, they walk right though!" so i take up position behind a t able and wait, i can hear them and this goes on for about five mins and its pure tension! They come in eventually and i dispose of them quickly but word, it was so tense!
I'll come into the server you're on, i dont have a map or anything, but oh well. You go by trainrek?

Re: DayZ: An open-world, perma-death zombie survival game
I don't think zombies are too fast, but the zig zagging could do with being fixed - that's what makes them hard to hitidontreallygiveashit wrote: 1) Zombies are too fast

i think melee weapons would be ok but only as a last resort to take down say 1 zombie, cause running around the map with 1 zombie chasing you when you have no ammo is pretty stupid. but they would have to make sure it didn't go the way of left 4 dead

I play on uk servers during the day fairly often. Am on as Barrance if anyone ever sees me!
And alty, thats almost the exact set up ive got! Mine is Ey300 2.77ghz dual core, 8800GTS and 2gb of ram, and for me it runs pretty nice on 1280x1024 with mostly medium settings. Id go for it

my name is [DSF]Trainrek. (I reckon everyone should add dsf before their names so us ninjas can easily identify each other)idontreallygiveashit wrote:I'm currently in the Finnish one... my god, i finally found my first shotgun and was chuffed!
