If you don't take advantage of this situation by making art, anything else you do will be time wasted.

My last relationship lasted for about a year. Thought that I would quit producing concentrate on my job and have kids. After making music most of my life and never really gettin anything from it, I thought it was the best idea to just let it go and become a family man. But after some time I realized that producing music is still very very important for me. My now X GF never really liked seeing me sitting in front of the PC for hours messing arround in cubase. So it got to the point that we both didnt feel happy anymore. We splitt up about a month ago.

So now im back producing tunes and I have found new energy and inspiration that really drives me to do the best I can. The emotions inside really help me to write my tunes! I have moved away from producing more bassline orientated tunes to more emotional music. So I understand you 100%! Pour out your feelings in your tunes! There is nothing wrong with it. I think I make the best tunes when im feelin shit! :D

BTW... There is a thread here about this topic... GF and Producing... Yep we are not the only ones.. Its very very difficult... You really need a woman that respects your passion!

Cheers!

My english teacher gave me a weird look when I mentioned that as the musical instrument I played. Like the wtf stare. I had to give her the 'wiki wiki' dj motion to confirm what i meant.

I got into producing recently because of my guy and we just split up last Friday. I actually loved the fact that he was into his music and massively supported him. I wouldn't have wanted him to give up at all as I'm a musician myself. He said that production and a relationship wouldn't have worked together, but if you have someone who supports and understands you then that's a good thing, surely. Anyway, his mind was made up and right now I guess I'm still trying to get over it, haven't really slept/eaten much last few days. On the brightside if it wasn't for him, I never would have gotten into producing but yeah, would be nice to meet someone into the same stuff again and loved me completely :(

Not getting laid enough is the best thing that could happen for my producing IE I have way too much free time, seems so hard for me to meet women that I am actually interested in beyond looks, as well as a general disinterest in relationships.... But my basslines get fatter and fatter in between faps.

I'm sadly past the girlfriend stage lol.My wife supports me in anything i wanna do with my music.Producing is my release from stressful days, she does get the hump if i sit for days on end with my headphones on but gets it that dedication is needed. The only thing that gets on my tits is i only ever use my speakers when i mix my tracks and i swear she sneaks the volume up on the tv just to wind me up.I couldn't live without her though to be honest im really really shit at cooking lol.

sometimes you really have to just step away from the whole music thing for a while before you realize how much it actually means to you.
it's like the whole 'too close to a mountain' analogy. life to me seems to be a long series of stepping back from mountains, only to realize how beautiful the mountain is later.

good topic btw. glad people are largely on the same page about makin tunes from love/breakups :W:

So true!

Im happy that I found out that it is so important to me. It really helps me to plan what to do next. I just spent a huge amout of money on a new sound interface. It was well worth it.. :) All I need to do now is find a way I can work less and spend more time in my studio. But thats a different story! :6:

I guess Im in love with making music! :U:

My girlfriend thinks im just wasting my time. then I got a bit of interest from benga for a tune, and I could just see the little pound signs in her eyes.
