Controversy Creates Cash - Not as eye opening as The Hardcore Truth was, as I was familiar with nearly all of the source material, but Bischoff's version of events was still entertaining for a lot of the 'big' events. Everything should be taken with a large pinch of salt though, he's still coming across as a pompous little shite for nearly all of the book. Easy read if you're a fan, got through the 400 odd pages in a little under 5hrs today.

Monks' biography of Wittgenstein is actually the best biography I have ever read. Heck it's up there in the best books I've ever read.

Monkey Business - Autobiographical look at the real life of a junior analyst/associate working on Wall Street and how they get paid shitloads but rarely have any time to spend it, as they are basically worked into the ground by all & sundry. Funny as fuck in places, doesn't make me want the lifestyle for a second.

Read damn near the entirety of Hegel's philosophy of right this semester. Jees.

The 50th Law - Having read 49 laws of power, The Prince, etc found this a little thin on the ground in terms of stuff ideas that hadn't already been discussed before. Tying things to Fiddy's past for an updated 'twist' was entertaining at first, but ultimately tiresome.

Got a kindle for Christmas, currently switching between The Bottom Billion, John Dies at the End, Das Kapital & Platos Apology/Crito/Phaedo of Socrates.

I watched John Dies at the End a while ago, it was funny but a little confusing.. read loads of reviews that suggested reading the book then re-watching to fully appreciate it. The squeal is highly rated on the kindle as well so will probably give that a read after.

Just finished reading Joe Haldeman's Marsbound series. Top notch writer, his stuff is just so easy to read and always has excellent pacing. The series is essentially a critique of humankind's idiocies (especially with regards war, responses to threat and abuses of power) couched in a sci-fi first contact scenario with aliens who actually are pretty omnipotent compared to Earthlings. The first book's fairly lighthearted but it gets somewhat more serious as the series goes along.

As an aside, his book The Forever War is probably considered best anti-war sci-fi book written to date. Highly recommend that. It was also the first book in the SF Masterworks series.

Lost and Sound: Berlin, Techno and the Easyjet Set by Tobias Rapp. One of my christmas presents. Really interesting.

Tao te Ching by Laozi. Very interesting although the translation I read might not have been very good, got me interested in eastern philosophy.

Just finished reading Making Money by Terry Pratchett and will probably start on the new discworld book, I really enjoy them, light-hearted and easy reading.

Todes died too young. I get a feeling from reading this that his best was yet to come (this is a reworked version of his dissertation thesis).

Any of the city watch series starting with Guards Guards (Men At Arms is amazing but you need to read Guards Guards first ideally)
