Love how some people have clearly spent lots of money on gear and really nice speakers but forgot to treat their room.

why you getting dbx comp/eq and a midiverb? Just curious, I have had a few of each over the years and while they can be had really cheap unless you doing work outside the box and have use for cheap comp/eq or verb I dont know what sort of us it would really be.

You don't have much outboard gear to begin with right? Is your process/workflow focused outside the box?

Just curious as I see a lot of young cats jumping into gear that they could probably use other items and get more out of them at this stage. I dunno just curious.

I'm trying to transfer into a bit more of the outboard realm for one, but yes i have a plan/use for them all

the comp- not a huge fan of reason's comp tbh, and i don't wanna use the scream 4 comp as its pretty useless as far as actual compression goes

eq- i hate having to open multiple m class eq's if i want more that 2 things done. and am just not a huge fan of it in general

verb- using as as send along with the rv7000 in reason

i also like using my hands for a lot of stuff and starring at screen can kinda kill my creativity idk why. hope that answers :t:

midiverb is the old warp sound;

the dbx266xl is the worst compressor ive ever used, hardware ir software id strongly rtecommend you avoid.

i was looking at the 166, is that just as bad ?

nowhere near as bad. Ive actually got one but not used it much yet tbh. it comes from a much better 'family line', the 160 was a great compressor, the 166 is a cheaper version. check gearslutz.

nowhere near a 'great' compressor tho, but good value, depending on how much you spend obvioulsy!. how much you spending? my 166A was £50, but that was cheap becuase its got paint on it :6:

the 266 is in a league of its own of shittiness tho tbh.

but yeah, tbh even reasonably priced plugs beat most hardware compressors, only really useful for completely trashy sound, or if youre totally OTB, both equally and entirely valid.

I've got about a 600 US spend, not all one one unit hopefully

reread my post, i edited it.

midiverbs are pretty basic, consider a quadraverb, sill cheap but can do much more. or a boss se50/se70.

compressors and eqs, well id spend a bit of time on gearslutz tbh, read up. I grabbed the 166 because it was cheap and i bought a load of reverbs off the same guy. (kurzweil rumour is a lovely reverb btw).
