Also, what do you think about the development of dubstep as a genre?
I took the survey!

Not my first post but I just noticed this thread.

Decided to join up after I found out about Mala in NYC from the events subforum.

Don't get a ton of proper bass music where I am, so I was thrilled

I'll start with a question

yes we can all make a strait sub from a sine wave, but what about thickening up some dynamic midrange bass with an "underpinned" sine wave, so that you get the boom that moves with your midrange stuff.

I've tried side chaining my sine-sub to my midrange bass via a gate or a compressor with not great results, too much clicking, etc. Maybe i should just try and run another oscillator off my synth, playing a dropped sine?

(see link for example off the "dynamic midrange basses" i like to work with)

Hey all. Chenjesu here. I've been producing a number of styles for a few years now and have been playing dubstep as a DJ also for a number of years. Love the drumstep sound at the moment and my really chilled psychedelic dubstep.

Adjust your A/R to get rid of the click, you're on the right track

Sup. I'm Liberal Shimmering (Caine Joseph (CJ) Snow). I've made a few dubstep tracks in the past. They're all located here: http://cjsnow1.newgrounds.com/audio Just look for the ones marked Dubstep. They're pretty mediocre if I do say so.

Lately I've been making 2-step beats. Sadly, none of them are online yet. I plan on releasing an EP of mostly 2-step tracks in a few weeks along with an EP of nothing but 2-step tracks (with 3 or 4 ambient interludes and an intro/outro) in about a month. So stay tuned for that.

Other than that, I predominately make Hip Hop beats. So if anyone's interested in that check out my Soundcloud.http://soundcloud.com/liberalshimmering

Hi, my name is Jono. I'm from Canada and am majorly into the dubstep scene over here. Despite popular belief we have some sick dub over here as well ;-) I prefer underground, hectic chaotic dub songs and super chill lovestep remixes.

Hi guys, my name is Ryan. I am relatively new to the world of dubstep but I am trying to learn something new every day. I've absolutely fallen in love with the genre and have been trying to make my own songs for a couple months now through Ableton. Its been a little hard though, I just moved to San Francisco and don't know any other producers and my friends aren't into the music so I am a little bit on an island when it comes to learning. Youtube has been my only ally for tutorials thus far. Hoping to meet some people on here who can help me along the journey and if there is anyone here from SF let me know because I have no one to go to any shows with. Thanks guys.

My name is JellesNietes, and i've been 'producing' for about 2 years, but i've always kept it to,being behind my pc fooling around, never anything serious.
But i'm trying to change that so i've come here for advice, and hopefully to learn a ton of new things.
