Gonna give Max Payne 3 another try tonight. Hopefully ill get into it although everything about it so far is frustrating me, which is a surprise as I enjoyed the others and games of this type.

I didn't rate MP3 tbh.

MP3 was alright, but not as good as the originals.
New Rise of the Triad is godlike, just having performance issues with it like a lot of people, once patched it's gonna be my go to MP FPS game. God I missed twitch arena shooters.

I just bought Unreal Tournament black edition from Gamersgate sale.
One of my favorite to play lan with my son.

That's a shame, it's also a shame that it's become such a niche market and that games like CoD and Battlefield are the new standard.
This, ArmA 3, and the new Shadow Warrior are some of the only games I've been hyped for in recent time.

Starforge I almost bought into, but heard too many issues to take the plunge.
Rust seems cool and Under the Ocean as well (need to spend some more time with that) if you haven't checked those out.

nobody plays them anymore though, quake live was almost totally dead last time I played it about 7 months ago.

They do, just not the new generation of gamers, I regularly watch Quake Live tournaments on twitch.
Tribes Ascend also was gaining some traction in the competitive scene before Hi-Rez fucked it up and abandoned it.
Also it's kind of hard to play what doesn't get made anymore.
Some of my favorite comments on the new RotT Remake I've read so far:
Reloading does nothing on the bullet weapons.
I have a bug where some dead guy took my weapon and killed me.
MP is just a rocket fest and unbalanced.
Where is the shotgun?
Ironsights don't make my aim any better.
It's too fast.

Anyone whose played the original should get a kick out of these.

the problem with quake I reckon is that it was just way too difficult for new players who wanted to just randomly be able to play the game and expect to do well in it. It's not like a game like COD where you can just run around grabbing overpowered equipment to let you rain random death from the skies.

Yea the problem is it takes skill and practice to actually be able to do well in MP matches. Patience isn't exactly a virtue you see in modern gamers.

I have to say Pete, even with the performance issues I'm currently having, this is the most fun I've had with a FPS in ages. I'd say snag it just for the singleplayer alone if you loved the original, hell it's only $15 as well.
