ya, i really, really suck at mastering... i will spend hours trying to make a track stand up and it'll sound like total shit... could really use some sit-down training with that..

went to school for audio engineering for a bit, but its almost too easy to master when you have a full studio rig with ProTools and whatnot at your fingertips..

all i can do is read up in the forums and watch tutorials.. but they're very definition based and i think mastering is a track-by-track kinda thing...

maybe you should just review music full time, or get a good mate to master for you :D no shame in it!
i personally just consistantly tryed new methods to get stuff to sound how it sounds in my head(still cant quite get it to sound how i want it to) :(

anyone got any feed back for this ?
Soundcloud
:D
you knew i'd have to touch on this one... jsax is my homiiiieeeee

JSaxton - "Where's Jitset (Original Mix)"

pluses:
+that vocal sample...!!!! <3 <3 :E:
+god this song is awesome
+super sweet dub feel.. nice samples overall, you're the man
+oh god i'm gonna have to jig around to this one
+sub bass is spot on

advice:
-chop those vocals up and play with them a bit! (i like the occasional EQing but you could do more)
-drops are so so so heavy, one of them should be a surprise..!
-just a tad more variation and this is solid gold

overall:
=pretty much standard Jsax, he brings it old school but oh so fresh... good find on that vocal track, and very good job on getting the vibe right.. i have a snoozy rasta friend from venice beach here with me that actually lifted his caps up to see where the music was coming from..! most movement i've seen outta him all day  no, im not even kidding haha.. so biggups from me and little lou as well! :Z: :Z:

i just finish on this one.. (Insane)
all feed back are welcome!!
also wish i could get this one signed..its one of my favourite so far.
but feedback would be great.
thanks
Thierry le DJ - "Insane"

plus:
+nice bounce around ambience in the intro, panning is well done and a solid line
+nice buzzy bass and metallic bass..
+goes into super wubs
+you got that ProPro sound, just keep at it, musically
+nice flow, good stuff

advice:
-let the signers come to you, just keep producing banger tracks and put them in the right spots
-i'd make the intro about one measure shorter if you want to do a long drop, just to pick it up a bit
-variation is nice, but could be a little smoother to make the sounds flow together
-bass melody line could be stronger, the buzzy bass tends to muddy the water a bit
-ending is super long and uneventful, most people at the club would think its another break

overall:
=hmm. well for starters i wish i could make my tracks HALF as crisp as yours, you have a really clean sound and use all the right VSTs for your genre... i feel like in a few months when you have more experience writing music, you will have a real shot at being signed. your production is about as clean as it gets, but the musicality of the track just doesnt really make me wanna peel my face like the greats. i would study popular dubstep and listen to their melodies, then try to program your own using similar intervals. i'm really excited to know you at this point because you'll be super in no time at all!

much love :w:
Mate Big Up for the feed back's
thanks for listening and your time
i really appreciate the feedback's..
will deffenantly keep working on it..i notice in my track's i hardly ever use the LFO on
the bass synth will start doing some of that on my new track's and also i will try to get the hang of using a
midi keyboard..as am used to using a mouse and space bar only hopefully my melodies will improve..
once again thanks for the feed back.
Thierry
Thanks :t:

hmm, well i know my problem before was that i lived in an apartment and my neighbors would come and complain constantly when i used my monitors, so i've had to use $30 headphones to do my mixing... maybe i should just stop thinking im superman, eh?

track i made recently, not been doin this ting for long so feedback is most wanted

peace x
okay, had to do this one, then im done for a bit, gotta stop posting up in this coffee shop

TDSdubs - "G1"

plus:
+oo, even the soundcloud of this song looks pretty :P
+fade in of fat bass drum works so nice
+that 'doo-doo-doo' call/response... yeh, dont even act like you guys dont know what im talking about (0:42). ill never hate it haha
+drum drop has a great flow, almost a blend of dub and the crunkest of the crunk, i would SO swing to freakin hard to this in the club, but thats knell for ya
+liquid bass wubz are fantastic
+super flow, you definitely have a good idea of the genre

advice:
-drops could be heavier, with a beat as crunk as this.. think thats just a mastering issue, which i definitely shouldn't comment on, as i'm the ultimate loser of mastering
-needs a tad more variation if its gonna stay at five and a half min.
-a super break with a big bass dropper here and there would be too epic on this track
-maybe cut the beat out from the liquid wubz during the faster automation parts, like once? just a suggestion but it would blow some minds on the good bump systems

overall:
=for a rook, i am floored! nicely done, my friend, you have a great start and a very promising future ahead of you if you keep this up. has almost a hip hop feel to it, but with proper production and not just a ProTools sample track sound haha. anyway, keep me posted.

much love :w:

its funny, because when it comes to dubstep, my true preferences are the likes of datsik, excision, and oldschool benga/caspa ...

however, dub is a whole different passion of mine altogether, so i get into a whole different mindset when i hear a groove like that one..

it must just ignite the stoner within me or something haha, its been too long since i've had a good smoke, feck the drug tests to get a decent job around here

just thought i might comment on this one as i was listening to it almost expecting a Amen break or a variation of one to come in on the second drop,
but i agree with knell that intro looks as awesome as it sounds, that panning is spot on!

haha like my sig says... the baron is aaaaaalways watching... whether you want him to or not

usually if i dont do a review on a general post its because others have already covered it and i'd just be re-hashing their feedback, and no one likes spam! :G: i post almost too much so i do what i can to keep this thread tidy, its getting quite massive (i always joke about this one being a contest with the WIP thread, but with recent developments we're shredding that one... i usually dont touch WIPs because it would take me all day to give recommendations on tracks that are only halfway done  )

looking forward to your future tracks, ill be here with the reviews, today proved nothing can keep me down hah
