IndigoChild - "Inner Bliss"
plus:
+entrance with the sub-bass, would mix well
+138bpm...
+was gonna say i wish the slide synth was louder in the advice, but you definitely achieve that at (0:56)
+super ambience, super major/minor play... good mix of dark/light, which is what i look for in ambient-esque tracks
+lots of instruments going at their own rate
+made me a little sad, but still hopeful. it's weird when i get stirred such as this
advice:
-some of the more high freq instruments cut through the track like a katana... might wanna compress or lower in the mix to reduce squeak
-a sudden burst of a midrange bass would scare the pants off most people and blow them away haha.. maybe that should be saved for a remix tho, this track is beauty
-i think mixing/EQing would solve all my gripes about this track, so that's a very easy task, very very well done..!
overall:
=yesterday was a weird day for me and left me slightly emotional, so that might have something to do with it, but after this track was done i kinda just sat and stared in contemplative silence, on the verge of tears. something about your note progression is so haunting... stirred up all sorts of uncomfortable feelings within me.. which is what i love most about music.
so...

thank you
**EDIT: realized the irony that this track is named 'Inner Bliss' and left me almost in tears.. maybe it just reminded me of old good times and all those memories just got me a little emo haha**

TDSdubs - "Hold Her"
plus:
+ooh, you're good at the dream vibes man, totally diggin the laid back vibe of your tunes
+

there's that sample i was thinking about (in my above review of "No Joke")!!!!!!!! haha looks like we're on the same page after all
+well done, perfect blend of dark and light
+was highly concerned with the 8:24 track length at first, but the vocals make it totally fly by with variation
+that wub bass peeking in (2:45) is so clever!
+nice freq automation on the wub, gives a more unique vibe
advice:
-eh, 8+ min is still a little grueling for me, most parts could be cut in half and it'd still be the same song
-i know you probably dont want massive drops on such beautiful tracks, but one big drop could be really effective
-i think a glitch drum track toward the end would be a great way to end with a memorable bang, would trigger the "Burial effect", if you know what i'm saying (sorry its early haha)
overall:
=...you ARE writing your music for me!!!
much love

aagh! that tune's LOVELY! Comments on yr soundcloud. Peace

anyway this is my new track!
started it a few hours ago...
a feedback would be great
thanks for your time..
Thierry le DJ - "What a DoDo"
plus:
+always good to review a Thierry track, know i'm in for something crisp... and no comments included about getting signed this time!
+horns are well placed, and add a weird major flare to the track that took me by surprise
+clever bongo work
+'swampy' melody line
advice:
-horns are a wee bit hot in the mix
-seems to rely on different instruments for variation, which is fine but those four notes got pretty stale towards the end with that vibrato synth constantly plugging away at them
-breaks are a tad long.. just a tad tho
-could either use a big drop or be cut in half time-wise, i think
-the 20sec of silence at the end...
overall:
=nice, but sounds like a WIP... personally i like your other tracks, but this can be very good with some spice and variation, or a big drop with a moderately heavy bass to really set the groove
much love

Thirsty Android is a cool tune man, btw.

thank ya thank ya, Thirsty was my weak attempt at working with Excisions sound.. well, as close as Reason4 can get

i was gonna say, that track did it for me too. You did it in Reason4? Swap you some combis??
haha, weird, i personally think Thirsty was one of my weakest tunes, so i'm glad that you guys dig it, for sure!
and i forgot how good it feels to get some feedback in return, rather than dishing it out vigorously
anyway, as far as swapping combi's... let me hear some of your Reason4 tracks and send me a PM with the ones in my songs that you want (just listen to the songs you like then time-tag the parts where the combi you want comes in, like (0:00) style) and i can definitely arrange that!!
much love

cool, im on it

TDSdubs - "5:00 (Time for Dubs)"
plus:
+after the last track of yours really moved me, i was excited, borderline apprehensive to review this one
+well done on the plasma blasts
+nice panning/delay
+automation gets tasty
+bass gets growly
advice:
-that bass could definitely be more pronounced, unless you're looking for something unique
-phaser on the snare can get a tad awkward, could layer it with another snare
-almost the same drop twice
-would be cool if the plasma blasts sweeped from right to left instead of staying in the right
-could use a nice rasta sample somewhere (maybe something about time or five o'clock) to go with the background delayed beat sample
overall:
=dark, rootsy, grimey... all the right ingredients for a stand up track, i just personally think it could use a stronger bass, or even a deep reso..
much love

Melodik - "Higher"
plus:
+fade in on a nice beat, the intro drop is effective, haven't heard that in forever..
+nice off beat guitar sounding thing, gives traditional dub feel
+ooooo!!! that main drop is borderline SALSA good grief man!
+wubs with dat drop rhythm make meh wan' jig around like i'm on deh Island!
+vox are...well... 'fiyah'
+reed organ gives it another traditional feel
+wubz building into last drop are taaaaaasty
advice:
-5:22 is moderately long, but this track holds pretty strong
-wubz are very close to being perfect in my eyes, the automation sounds a little awkward but thats hard to avoid with one that sounds like that
overall:
=pat yourself on the back, this track is pretty much done! i think with a little better organization this would be oh so splendid.. like i said up there, havent heard something with a groove like that since my times around the islands in the caribbean.. had to show this to my puerto rican ex, who also gave it her approval as well, so bravo..!

Stay well people!
props:
+fuzzy wuzzy intro got my attention
+massive, scary drop, always
+splendid variation of oscillating synths, layered nicely (which is surprisingly tough to pull off, for me at least)
+strong sub-bass really pumps the track
advice:
-almost sounds like seagull samples in the background of the fuzzy intro?
-might want to build with a sweep or something to prepare the crowd for that drop so you can make sure they'll get groovin at the right moment..
-vox could be used a little more sparingly
-does go on a little bit, but i think with more sparse vox and maybe a different sample here and there, most people wouldnt be bothered
overall:
=sultry tune, mate.. aside from mixing/length issues, its a well rounded track, could definitely hear this being dropped around these parts..!

OH NO!!! please dont think i was calling you out on mis-titling your track!!!! i think it's great as "Higher"
i was just trying to be funny using the literal word of the sample "Fi-yah" with the typical adjective for really good in stoner lingo, "fire"
sorry that got misconstrued

, but it was in the "plus" section for that reason... i really enjoyed it
sorry about that...
anyway, i'd love some feedback on my tracks, so thank you!!!

Jam1 - "Belly Dub"
plus:
+gangsta sounding intro, i have some mates that would probably love to freestyle on this haha
+good build, progressive sound
+great attempt for your first track!
+heavy heavy sub bass, could get most woofers pouding
advice:
-you could bring the snare in with the bass drum and cut out the bass drum only section in the intro if you want to cut down on the drag
-hmm, with only a lead and sub-bass, this sounds more like a rap/hip hop beat than dubstep
-breaks can get a little dull with just hats and lead, with the drums building all over again
-work on a stronger build up into that heavy drop, could use a standard reversed crash cymbal or something original
-if you want to keep it closer to this sound, i would add vocals or at least a sample or two
overall:
=strong groove, good to see you on the board. very good for a first production effort! still seems like progressive hip hop over dubstep tho
much love

Knell does it again! Thanks for the very comprehensive review, it's really appreciated! I'll look to work on your points in my future productions for sure

Its far from perfect as I'm very new to production (only started a month ago)
So please constructive criticism would be great
Soundcloud
Geeza - "Dubarazzi"
plus:
+intro is pretty attention grabbing! most people who know the song (which is like everyone) would definitely get hype
+like how you used more than just a clip of the song, makes it a true remix
+bass is nice and metallicwub, super heavvvvy
+bass follows the melody of the song, which is pretty crucial
+vocal only break is super effective
+glad you used the unedited version... sounds like a given but you'd be surprised what people try to pull off these days
advice:
-bass drop could be a little more pronounced, meaning it needs a tad more build to prepare the crowd to jump
-maybe a lead synth in there somewhere, like the second verse? would add some spice to reduce the repetition of bass+vox only
-drop after vox only break could use a little build as well
-some soft speedup/slowdown automation of the LFO during the second verse could also add some variety
overall:
=super good idea, and the flow is well done, but it seems like this is the bones of the tune, needs a little meat and spice, something on top of the drums and bass, before it'll sound well rounded (in my opinion, anyway)...
Thanks for the feedback pal

I was thinking the same with the LFO automation (great minds think alike

) the rest of advice is a massive help aswell thanks much appreciated
