That's the bottom line ^. Security tends to have an allotted amount of time to search each customer and will spend anywhere from 70% to 100% of that time looking through a bag. This frees up your shoes, socks, pockets, pants etc for concealing drugs.

99% of the time dogs outside a rave are not drug dogs. They are there in the hope that people will prang and drop their stash.
Also, a real drug dog would be able to smell past a bit of bollock sweat. You're just going out with dirty knackers for no reason.

Yeah they use german shepherds outside clubs and theyre not sniffers, you need spaniels or something with a much better sense of smell to sniff drugs. usually security companies won't wanna spend loads of money training sniffer dogs so having a few big dogs outside will suffice to scare a few.

I was stopped at a police stop stop a couple years ago when I still had dredds.
The cop came running from a distance yelling "Stop that fucking rasta"
I had 2 25g bags between my legs in my jocks.
The dog did a few passes, sniffed frantically but in the mean time the police officer had pulled my bag out of the car that had king size rizla and a small chillum that stank to high heaven.
The dog naturally responded, forgot about me and nose dived into the bag which made his cop friend very happy.
He dumped everything on the floor and pulled my pipe out with a pissed look on his face, "What is this? where is the dagga?"
I looked at him and said, "I don't deny I smoke but that doesn't mean I'm carrying anything."

They proceeded to pull everything out of my car including a set of speakers destined for an outdoor party.
He was bashing them around so I asked him to please be careful as they were high end equipment that could break.
He proceeded to ask why I was so concerned about the speakers and even went as far as saying he'd rip them apart if I wasn't honest with him.
Naturally I continued lying and told him I had nothing so he should let me go.

They let me go and just walked off, said nothing to me.

German shepards can smell just fine, if they're not detecting, they're not trained.

i have read that german sherpards are the best for smelling drugs because they are very easy to train. in italy and spain they use it a lot .
